You can bet your bottom dollar that if and when Keary is gone due to HIA, Hutcho will be the 5/8 for the remainder of the season. In a salary cap world there's no such thing as having quality depth in reserve.

I reckon they prefer Manu to fill in at fullback. Manu is still very ordinary in defence.
At this stage I'd be willing to play Turpin as 6 in that case.

      Shagger's back...because he is f#@&ed?
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I thought he was recruited for his defensive capabilities?

I like the look of Turpin but would you seriously put him at no.6? I'm not a huge Hutcho fan but he's solid when he plays at no.6. He's useless in the centres and nearly as bad from dummy half.

          • Just on a slightly different subject, how good was it to see St Helens win the Challenge Cup Final.

That's unreal, how long has it been since an English side has won the WCC in Australia?

It was awesome and confirms the b2b Roosters as the better team over Penrith who embarrassingly lost a World Club Challenge on home soil.

Good on them. Most NRL teams have trouble beating Penrith at home.

                    • I dont know why the team has been notorious slow starters to seasons in the last decade. I got absolutely no idea what is going to happen in the first game against The Flippers- wouldn't be surprised if we win or lose by 50.

Yeah that was one of his strengths - he just didn't do it last year did he - to be honest his defence and defensive decisions were pretty poor last year.

I said to someone yesterday we always lose trials but win premierships..I know which I'd prefer. I remember we'd lost 7 in a row and still made it to the grand final..remember when the Dragons would win everything right through to May and then fall in a heap?

What season did we lose 7 games in a row and made the grand final?
