  • Availability update ahead of round 1

    - Sounds like Crichton is not training at the moment so he won't be available
    - Manu is facing a uphill battle to be ready for round 1 still not able to do any contact training but hopefully right for round 2
    - Keary and JWH are expected to be ready to go

There is also details about how Manu sustained his fracture in this article.

GrubBer seemed extraordinary confident Angus was right for round 1 and back in training. Obviously not. Hope he gets the help he needs and is back ready in due time.

There were reports a couple of weeks ago that Crichton had returned to training but that quote from Teddy certainly pointed towards Crichton not currently training with the team.

Ridiculous training, now look what's happened.
Brutal training, or not, contact training should be banned.
Tackling style training?...tackle bags only...tackle *gently*, not hard enough to cause an injury.

              Who knows.
We seem to always have players getting serious injuries...maybe there needs to be an in depth review of our training methods.
B Smith said we do more running in training than he was used to.

                I think the 2019 GF.

                Par for the course now.

We've been conditioned to expect it.

The Roosters and Sharks reportedly had another trial game at Henson Park yesterday.

Saw this on Twitter posted by Alan Katzman.

Former Penrith premiership player, and current
centre Paul Momirovski, didn't play in the

trials as a result of a concussion suffered during the pre-season. His availability for the early rounds of the 2023

Side note has anybody got any mail of Pauga? He seemed to do alright during the trials and has done some training at centre. Possibly

FWIW I don't think he's 'one of the young boys'... I believe he's 27 and becoming a bit of a journeyman. Sounds like he...

                      - Was a gun Kiwi junior who went through the Warriors' systems (all reserve grade, or whatever people wanna call it - somebody at a game the other year chastised me for using the term)

                      - COVID closed down some of the comps he was involved in, which arguably mighta stunted his development

                      - Signed with the Tigpies where he played 4 NRL games but didn't really make an impact.

                      - Signed with the Bears in late 2022 but seems to have moved along with Easts and is... presumably a top-30 player if we're using him in trials?

Not betting the house on him or anything but it sounds like he's been pretty persistent about trying to make NRL. If he were to win our available spot on the right wing then IMO it'd be a pretty good story!

Bears contracted player only, same as Alfred Smalley

Not that he was going to be there for RD 1 but Xavier Va’a was seen with crutches last night at our season launch.

It’s a shame because he was developing real nice and was a chance to break into our fringe/reserves during the year. Hopefully not too bad and he can get back into it with Norths
