Channel 9 reported that Crichton could miss the first 4 weeks of the season

Been Given 6 weeks off the last two week of pre-season and first 4 weeks of the season although they will see if he can return earlier.

I agree,,, one positive is we’ll probably see Watson Sitili & Gus all return at the same time as a timely boost mid season

I was only in my formative years as a Roosters supporter but Bruce Pickett was a pretty average winger imho.

Jimmy Porter the other winger in the 74 squad never gets a mention.
He was very good indeed and like a lot of Easts players went to Parra due to Jack Gibson raiding our ranks like Fulton did in the early 80s. Porter left for Parra after the 74 season.

Plenty of speed, but not much else. His claim to fame is running around Langlands to score in the GF (when Langlands was on one leg).

The Shane Whereat of his time.

Considering Porter left in 74 and Jack took over the Eels at the end of 1980, it's a bit of a stretch to say he went to Parra because of him. The only player I can recall going across to the Eels because of Gibson was Stumpy

Peard went to Parra after 75. Graham Olling went to Parra along with Porter after 74. The Fearnley and Gibbo connection from Easts.

It’s a shame because he was developing real nice and was a chance to break into our fringe/reserves during the year. Hopefully not too bad and he can get back into it with Norths
It's a Knee injury of some sort - If his Uncle comes back on this site he will be able to fill us in as you won't hear anything about if from the Roosters Club or Club Site.

Andrew Webster mentioned in a SMH article that Crichton is entering a treatment facility this week and will be unavailable to even train for the next 10 weeks.

I reckon Hes gone for the season and that's why the roosters have applied to the NRL for Cap relief

I'd be very surprised if he plays this year.

It may well be an insurmountable loss to our backrow. Alas there are more important things than football so hopefully he gets the help he needs for his health going forward.

Back row is one spot that I'm not worried about. If he was one of our halves I would be devastated, but this just means we get to see the future a bit earlier
