maybe the government is putting up 7.5m and the other 7.5 is put up by us and the afl?
obviously a good thing and will set up the roosters nrlw side for years to come. i'd like to hear more details - will we play all our home games there? sharing it with another code is fair enough but it would have been better if they'd done a deal with soccer - big fields make spectating worse. still, if will probably provide a better atmosphere than watching at an empty sfs and i think stand alone games are the way to go

Back on topic, this surely must be a world first for womens NRL facilities, or very close to it. So proud to follow a club who leads the way. Still breaking down barriers.. since 1908..
A full 17 team NRLW comp will happen in the not too distant future as well which will open doors as they say and provide the incentive for Females to continue playing after 12 years old when they have to cease playing in mixed comps.
The job then is to maintain their interest in playing after they turn 12 by having comps/ development squads and aged based junior rep comps for Females the same as Males
Currently they have a Tarsha Gale comp for under 19's Females and a weekend Lisa Fiola Cup one for under 17's which I did hear will be expanded to a proper Junior rep comp the same as all the other current Junior Rep ones - a 9 week comp and finals
The Central Coast Roosters have an Academy for Females from under 13's to under 17's.
I look forward to see the progress in the Women's game in the pathways from Junior to Senior Reps and onto NRLW level in the years to come

Good story on one of the French female players relocating to Australia for her chance. Recommended by Robbo who was obviously touring with the French teams during the World Cup.

Perrine had a 96% tackle efficiency rate (84 tackles and 4 missed tackles) in the Women's Rugby League World Cup playing against New Zealand , Australia and Cook Islands so she can defend as France were well beaten in two of those games - 54-0 by NZ and 92-0 by Australia and 26-18 loss to Cook Islands- 77/68/67 minutes played
I can see more overseas players coming over to play NRLW as it progresses to a full time professional comp and this will not only develop the Women's game locally but internationally as the other countries will no doubt increase funding for their domestic Women's comps as well.

the other thing is that the new venue probably won't have tv screens. maybe playing before the men and the reserves isn't an option, particularly as it will be harder to juggle compatible dates between men's and wmen's comps now that there are more teams.

NRLW should play at Allianz though as a 2 match game day experience.
With 10 teams this year - some teams will have 5 home games and some 4 which may not line up with NRL games in regard to whom they play.
Certainly something to look at especially when it becomes a 17 team NRLW comp to line up the draw so the NRL/NRLW sides are playing the same NRL/NRLW Club in both matches
When NRLW become a full 17 team comp they should look at having a NRL/NRLW club championship as wellLast edited by King Salvo; 02-26-2023, 06:06 PM.

It will 11 weeks - 9 rounds and a 2 week final series - top 4 only - 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 and the two winners play in the NRLW GF the same day as the Men's NRL GF
There are also 2 Women's SOO Games this year as well which by the sounds of it will be played prior to the start of the NRLW comp

This is the dumbest allocation of resources in a sport trying to go pro ever.
$5m from the roosters invested? The NRLW squad should be absolutely fuming.
$5m is almost the entire salary cap of the NRLW. This money from the roosts alone could double the salary of every woman in the league. Why the **** are they spending $5m on training facilities literally next door to brand ducking new training facilities already built in favour of actually paying their players a living wage?
shit like this is what the RLPA should be fighting against. Not arguing over scraps.
