    oh it’s already been discussed!

It just makes no sense why you’d spend 5 years worth of player salaries on a training ground. Especially literally in the shadow of a billion dollar sports development that was only completed months ago.

the NRLW needs to be pumping every last dollar pf investment into making their players full time employees. It’s insane to do anything else.

whole thing smacks of government bureaucrat and corporates finding their next meal ticket

i assume this money is on top of what's spent on the team which is limited by the salary cap

$5m from the roosters invested? The NRLW squad should be absolutely fuming.

$5m is almost the entire salary cap of the NRLW. This money from the roosts alone could double the salary of every woman in the league. Why the **** are they spending $5m on training facilities literally next door to brand ducking new training facilities already built in favour of actually paying their players a living wage?

shit like this is what the RLPA should be fighting against. Not arguing over scraps.
Thing called the salary cap... you cant just give it to the players.

yes and there’s thing thing called funding, which is used to set the salary cap.

the roosters could give the $5m as a grant to the comp, which would be added to its funding and thus could be used to increase the salary cap.

          it’s pretty simple.

there is no argument that can defend the idiocy of this development plan

Sounds like a solid business proposal, just give away money. How long do you propose we fund other clubs players for?

what do you think the return on investment will be for this centre of excellence will be exactly? We won’t own the development. We won’t be playing games there. We already have world class training facilities so aren’t getting any player benefit out of it.

it’s just $5m worth of PR (and lining the pockets of some developers, of course)
