  • Egan Butcher extends deal at Easts

On the back of Rads re-signing, its been announced that Egan Butch has also re-signed until the end of 2025. Amazing news. Excellent prospect who will have a breakout year this season I reckon.

Great pre-season in terms of retention and recruitment. Let's back it up on the field now.

Very happy with this, had a really promising season in 2021. Started slow last years but was great at the back end of the year, both he and Watson off the bench were huge for us.

Will be interesting to see how he goes on the left edge, great opportunity in his more natural position.

I think he'll own that left edge and given his versatility will be a Blues player by 2024.

Great news for him and the club.

Top quiet achiever, could have found a starting role elsewhere at an inferior club if he wanted.

Big opportunity for him now with Angus out long term, showed plenty of promise, I think he could be very good.

I like him a lot. He runs good lines, has decent hands and tackles well. He could easily make that spot his own

Great news. When he and Nat both extended maybe a year ago I think Nat extended for 4 years and Egan only for 1 or 2. You'd imagine Egan's thinking back then was to hope for a breakout season last year or this season, to drive up his price. I love that he's extended again now even before this season's started. Great to have both brothers locked in. They'll both play Origin imo.

I honestly believe in 2 years time he will be our best forward.
Has looked like a rep player from game 1. Just my opinion but i believe he will play for Australia no problems, the guy is a beast

I've never quite got the luv for the Butcher boys, but better judges than me have.

                      Good luck to young Egan.

Same here, I've always been surprised by the number of non-positive comments about him. Big, strong, FAST, good passing game, can hit a hole, seems the complete package to me.

He used to do some ridiculous things in junior reps so I've been watching him for years. Thought he'd be further along by now, but injuries haven't been kind.

Sky is the limit for this kid and we need to make him a priority long term. Has the complete game and could be anything.

I remember in around 2011 or 2012, Peter O'Sullivan saying of Boyd Cordner: "This guy will be the cornerstone of our pack for the next decade."

That's exactly how I feel about Egan Butcher.
