Robbo is obviously still one of the better coaches in the game and is a Rooster through and through.

But his inability or stubbornness to change his tactics and stick to the same thing year after year when it's obvious the game has changed may well be his downfall

Having 1 prop and a winger (who didn't even play yesterday) on the bench in 30 degree heat was laughable even before kickoff....

The record between 13-19 was amazing. From 20 till now we have been nothing but overrated and the coach instills me with no confidence. If that is the best we can offer we will be nothing more than a bottom 8 side. Robinson's ego is holding us back. Time for a change.

There should be a separate thread for that.

Oh wait, there is - 3 of them actually.

One poor game in "round 1" and you guys want Robbo's head on a spike and a full overhaul. This is the same coach that has got us into playing finals every year other than 2016, multiple minor premierships and three premiership titles, Auckland 9s title and world club challenge titles. Not to mention last year, we went basically "8 in a row" towards the finals before that week 1 finals debacle against Souffs which turned out to be more a UFC match instead of playing footy with troops missing prior to the match and from during the match.

Shit happens ... settle down ! .... At least wait till the end of this season before jumping up and down ffs !
I just checked Robbo's overall career success rate and it stands at 64% compared to Bennett's 61% and no, that is not their personal head to head as I can't find that..I'm too hot and cranky to do all that Googling...

Most oppositions fans would give buckets of cash to see their teams achieve that much success since 2013. But Farian made a good point..in 18 months time, if it's still same old same old, maybe time for some changes and a revamp. Agree with most who are saying we can't live on past glories and the game is moving and changing at a rapid pace and somewhere along the line, we just haven't been able to keep up. We need some Jack Gibson type forward thinking and innovation - the Roosters are amazing at this off field with all of the progress with the shiny new facilities, the professionalism, career opportunities post playing career for the boys and leading the way with the womens' team, however we do need to get those 2 weekly points more consistently otherwise everything I mentioned beforehand is a waste of time, money and resources.

His record of 64% with the squad and support staff he has had is not up to par. As I said before, any NRL coach of average quality could have got the same success with the same squad.

Not sure I would call them a bunch of rejects as they have more than decent pack of forwards - several current internationals and a more than handy backline.

The Dolphins were up for it in their first game and wanted it more simple as that - The 44% completion rate in the second half certainly didn't help the cause one has to say - high set completions is the key in todays modern game

I'm watching The Waterboy with Adam Sandler as I've never seen it..straight from the script:

“This is where they strip the ball from us.

And then we miss one tackle.

                There, two tackles.

                Joey drops the ball.

Whoops, he has time to pick it up and dust it off

and run in for a touchdown...before our guys even know what's goin' on.”

I think Ray has a point. As much as we all love Robbo there comes a time when that hunger isnt there after multiple successes, and what worked before doesnt have quite the same effect. Jack would usually stay around 3 years, maybe thats too short but you take my point.

We may need to go back to a more old style footy purist to win our next flag. Id propose Flanagan...hungry, smart and tough. Just like we want our players to be.

I dont know if our players are dumb or lack resilence when things get tough, or we arent coached as well as some other clubs in the post 2020 version of the game...like a few of us think. Its all opinion...dont get upset.

I'm also a bit worried whether young Sam will actually ever be able to run a team like a Cronk or Cleary. Thats what we need or are aiming at. Could be wrong, just some doubts creeping in.

Robbo runs the joint and Flanno coaches the footy team. Bang.

It would be easy coaching a team with a open cheque book at your disposal.
Robbo needs to reinvent himself and sack his head of recruitment

Yet Bennett has had similar if not better squads and can only manage 61%?? You guys are a hoot after a loss!

This thread is comedy gold full of absolute dribblers that can't handle the softest of poor runs of any team in the NRL crying that 64% win rate in 10 years isn't good enough and a 3 x premiership winning coach in 10 years doesn't know what he's talking about. I hate to say it but our fanbase is so incredibly soft and spoiled it's hilarious none of you guys would last supporting a team that even remotely goes through hard times.

You have a huge mouth and a tiny brain. Keep fiddling while Rome burns. I've seen 100% Roosters for 65 years you tool. The blind worship for Robinson here is the joke.

Bennett had the Queensland origin team for 25 years at Brisbane

You wouldn't be this soft of a supporter if you'd actually sat through really hard years that the club had in the past 65 years
