Nobody is calling Robbo a bad coach, if you are, you can be rightfully shown the door. But to chastise someone's commitment or dedication to the Chooks for merely questioning Robbo's underachievement is laughable, arrogant and lame. I dont care about Bennett or his record but he has won 7 comps. He has lost his touch big time and can't do anything apart from getting young guns to fire up and bash opposition forwards. The game has passed him by. But at a time he was invincible and considered the best coach. Sheens is another one. Both Bennett and Sheens had unbelievable rosters and won comps with them. Robbo is the same. Both Bennett and Sheens look nowhere near winning a premiership or innovating anything in the game of rugby league anymore so who is to say Robbo isn't slumping to the same thing. Maybe he will bounce back, we'd all love to see it. But the blind worship is idiotic. Questions need to be asked with this squad and the coach based off the last 2 years of coaching.

We are spoilt? Big fkin deal. You watch and play elite sport to win. Just because other clubs are rubbish doesn't mean you need to accept rubbish in your own backyard. We are different and better and should be held to a higher standard.
I dont think anyone would say you're a soft supporter-it's great to have passion for your team. However if we are going to question Robbo as coach then you would want to replace him with someone who has a better record in the last decade. That's not easy- in 10 years under Robbo we have won 3 premierships, made 6 preliminary semi finals and only missed the 8 once (2017). It makes him our most successful coach since 1908. Certainly not any of the recently sacked coaches like Hasler, McGregor,Barrett,Maguire. None of these coaches would be an attraction for any player to come to the club (unless you want Foran with Hasler!).
Nor would be Flanagan, who won 1 premiership in 8 years with a win rate of 50% (compared to Robbo's 64%). It leaves Bellamy, who himself has said he is reaching the end. Money isn't going to be a motivation- Matt Tripp will pay him anything to stay coaching at the Storm.

Based on the "last 2 years of coaching" who has impressed you- taking into consideration the rosters? Anyone you think we could target? I really can't think of anyone

Let's be realistic. In 2017 Robbo was off contract and we were having a ordinary season losing a stack of games by 6 points or less. Nick made the decision to extend his contact for 3 years- so we know where Nick stands.

Having said all that you may be 100% correct-it may be the start of a downturn for the team- and yes Robbo or no coach for that matter is invincible. We seem to be notorious slow starters seem to sort of limp into the first 12 rounds- and this is under Robbo's watch and it is something he needs to address. Going to be an interesting year!

I think you’ll find that 2016 was the year we didn’t make the 8. 17 we signed Keary and Gordon and were a win away from the GF
        EASTS TO WIN!

I'll give you Newcastle but not St George. Their backline was full of international players and their forward pack had 4 state of origina players and 2 NZ reps as well as another NZ rep off the bench.

Losses like the ones on Sunday put pressure on making the top four.

If we learned anything from last year it’s that every game is important to secure a top 4 spot at the end of the year!

The start of the season is important to jag as many wins as possible to get you through incase injuries and suspensions cruel you during the year!

Based on this I thought we were lay down specials against the Dolphins,it just makes no sense..

You are exactly right mate which is why in another thread somewhere I dismissed the notion that Robbo is an average coach, purely because of the amount of awful dross in the modern day coaching ranks.

I'd say you'd have to give credit to Ivan Cleary as much as I'm starting to dislike him and the Riff. To get them up for both regular season and finals with a ridiculous win ratio that would have to be close to 90% over the last 3 seasons is insane. You'd take him in a heartbeat because it would also likely bring Nathan Cleary to the club aswell.

Bellamy is on verge of retirement but you'd take him for a year or two. Apart from that, nobody is in Robbo's league as a coach.

I think maybe you could consider Fitzy largely due to his connection to the club. He did well but not outstanding with Cronulla. Jason Ryles is highly regarded but unproven. Realistically, I think Robbo is better option than everyone bar Cleary and Bellamy but still doesn't forgive the fact that we are slightly underachieving because whilst we have an amazing record under Robbo, our squad has also consistently been one of the strongest.

I dont think using coaching records as your sole determinant of making a new appointment is that wise.

Otherwise, we never would have hired Robbo in the first place.

Same face, same voice isn't fixing the horrible error rate, the leaky defence, can't beat South's, player brain explosions, horrible Rd1 record & fighting to make the 8 with our roster.

Big factors since then is no trell, and Sammyboy at half. Either Robbo dosnt know how to coach him, or Keary can't work out how to play with him. since trell left we've won 1 finals game and that was against the titans that should've beat us.

Careful...Robbo can coach us until 2050 if he wants, because he won b2b premierships in 2018/19.

I follow the Roosters not the coach .Win me premierships ior get close every year or bugger off and let someone have a go that will .That goes for players as well

The talk by fans of Fitzy being the next coach is understandable and if so I would like to see Aubo as his assistant. The current assistant coach who ran the water bottle i find unconvincing. He like Robbo doesnt address the high mistake rate which has been the negative in Robbo's 10 season tenure.

Barrett - I think I'd actually agree with you here, he's probably an assistant coach at best, a mere 32% win record.

Flanagan - Flanagan only won the comp once but the Sharks were never that strong, from memory they were underdogs in the grand final he did win. With a team of stars who knows?

Hasler - Don't know if he's better than Robbo but 2 premierships in the NRL era and was the runner up in 2 others. His last stint at Manly has been his worse run but even then you could probably make the argument that if Trbojevic hadn't had so many issues injury wise he would've been more successful. I'd say with our squad he'd have just as much success as Robbo.

Maguire - He was pretty successful at Souths and it was a strong team when he was there much like the Roosters are now, his only failure is the rebuild of the Tigers but even Tim Sheens is going to struggle with that for at least this year.

McGregor - The Dragons sides from 2014-2020 left a lot to be desired, within a team of stars like ours who knows? I do think he's better suited to be an assistant coach like his mate Trent though.

                                ---

Out of the list above if I was starting a club tomorrow I would think Hasler would be the most attractive option as a head coach out of everyone you've listed. 17 years coaching experience, premierships, winning percentage everywhere he's gone except his latest Manly stint, he'd be my guy.

I'd still take Robbo over him at the Roosters though.
