Perhaps the signing of Brown is the reason Tuku hau Tapuha has been released to the Sharks effective immediately.

My first thought is that Angus may be on the move.

Brown would be a walk up start in front of Egan Butcher,

He might give the game away. If the choice is between getting to 80 or ending up like Chad Robinson then I suspect he'll take the 80.

Yep my instincts tell me he will give it away.

I don’t think we’ll see Angus for much of the season if at all. Hopefully he can get his health in order by the start of next season though. It’s not something you can put a timeline on really.

                    • Just got the email now

The Sydney Roosters have today announced the signing of Nathan Brown for the remainder of the 2023 season.

The lock forward joins the club with immediate effect from the Parramatta Eels.

He has played 138 NRL games since making his debut in 2013 and made his State of Origin debut in 2020, playing for NSW off the bench.

In announcing the signing of Brown, the Roosters have also confirmed that Tuku Hau Tapuha has been released from the remainder of his contract to join another NRL club.

Player number 1201, Hau Tapuha made his NRL debut with the Club in 2021, featuring in three top grade games.

The Sydney Roosters thank Hau Tapuha for his service and wish him and his young family all the best in the future.

Speaking from personal experience, he could be back sooner than you think. These things can be managed. It's about honesty, having a great support group, including family, significant other, friends, psychiatrist and psychologist. If he has all that in order things can improve quickly.

I'm sure he is getting great professional support, and I really hope he improves. My thoughts are definitely with him.

I do agree nothing is certain though.

Hope you're right. Getting back into a familiar routine training and playing will also be good for his health and not just the Roosters.

For sure... TBH it seems really weird for a club to do this to a guy. Do we have any context?

This aside, a few articles from around the time he was dropped suggest that he wanted to stay but they informed him there was no cap space past 2023, dropped him and were then forced to use him in a GF.

Gonna happily assume that Parra created the issue and have managed him poorly. In contrast we released Tapuha quickly and without any drama. Another reason why people wanna play for us? If things don't work out then we'll deal with everything professionally...

                              • I hope he can get back to near his best form.
We really need him with Lodge gone for 6 weeks, and JWH needing to manage his injuries.
He is a ball playing forward who runs and hits hard, plays above his weight.
I don't know what got him on the outer at Parra, maybe his lack of size, and he looked like he was playing injured or had just lost the drive there for a while.
Maybe he was feeling unloved, and maybe this move will put the fire back in him.
If he clicks he will be great for us.
