Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Souths

Alot of it comes from Christian Nicolussi at the SMH, he is a one eyed Souths fan and every week writes about 10 puff peices on them and 5 bagging Easts

I wasn’t aware of this bit. I don’t read the weekly papers. I have access to the Sunday papers and follow some of the free stuff online which I would never want to pay for! I’ve never even heard of this journo. Good on Robbo for saying something.

So another gritty, determined, down in the trenches effort from the team, who for the second week in a row showed a lot of heart and toughness;

Pros:
* Lindsay Collins - Again showed what a quality prop he is and that he is the obvious choice to be the pack leader PJWH (Post Jared)
* Return of the Alpha Dog - Jared was ridiculously good in his first game back, and even remained calm when things got heated.
* The continued enjoyment of eating humble pie - I thought signing Turpin was a mistake, but his dummy half service is excellent as his defence (Friendy Mk II)
* Jaxon Paulo - Another signing that had us keyboard coaches shaking our heads, but he has been great and will only get better in our system. Powerful runner, not afraid to do the hard stuff.
* The slow and steady improvement of Tyrell May, I love him and think he is going to develop into a really good prop (especially under the tutelage of JWH), seems like a pretty grounded and humble kid too.
* Glimpses of why we signed the Cheese, he was great tonight and like many others will get better as the season goes on.
* Toops - The guy is a dead set Rooster legend. Never shirks the hard stuff, always gives 110% and seems to have formed a really close bond with Joey S. Please re-sign him till he chooses to retire.
* Souths Lost!!!! - The way that pack of inbred thugs carried on after they scored first was typical, but we stayed calm, played some great footy and deserved the win.
* Gerard Sutton actually gave us a fair go and spoke with some respect towards our players.
* The Roosters crowd - You guys were awesome!!! Being in Townsville I don't get to see many live games each year, but the noise you made and the atmosphere you created was top shelf!!
* Got the bye next week - guaranteed 2pts, chance to rest a couple of niggling injuries, recharge and prepare to smash the Eels.
* Nat not taking a backward step against Cody the Wanker when things got heated, getting in his face and reminding him about his intercept pass in the 2021 GF against the Panthers (Gold medal sledge)

Cons:
* Michael Chee Kam wasn't taken off on a stretcher for his deliberate 'dog shot' on Joey Manu.
* A couple of defensive lapses meant the vermin got closer to us than they deserved, but still super happy with the win.
* JWH and Toops can't play forever, they are both the fabric of our amazing teams.
* Souths were allowed back into the NRL

Yes I agree, it was all positive reporting of the vermin and bashing the Roosters. That pathetic attempt from Hooper on 360 as well to stir it up more by dragging Richardson’s comments into it. I think Robbo’s worked it out now. It’s not just the vermin who try and drag us into the hype, it’s the media going over the top and usually on Souffs side. I don’t think we’ll buy into that crap anymore as Robbo has had enough and seen it doesn’t work in our favour as the media is on their side.

Um…the later of course. But at least he spoke up about it. It may not matter to anyone else but it matters to us the fans, the club and players.
