I love the way he just scores and makes no fuss about it, and the work he does out of our end.

I can hear Tallis blowing up now on hearing this although he doesn't seem to know how the cap works
I wish Tallis would blow up!

He is a genuine club man, not wanting the spotlight on himself but on the team, and thinking of Anthony and paying tribute to his old captain, rather than focussing on what he can grab for himself. Like others on here, I do hope it will be ANZAC Day he will achieve this and I hope the club releases some merchandise to mark the occasion also..Something we can all add to the pool room..

Here's to you Daniel, not only for the player you are, but for the great example you've displayed wearing our jersey all these years with pride and excellence. Quiet, humble achievers are my kind of people as they are the ones who keep the world turning. He's in my all time top favourite players alongside another modest humble champion in Brett Kenny.
        Beautifully put RWB.

Earlier this year, the modest Tupou admitted he felt embarrassed to be within reach of breaking Minichiello‘s record.

“I’m blessed to be able to come so close to reaching that milestone, but at the same time I don’t want it to be my main focus. I also don’t want to beat Mini’s amazing Roosters milestone,” Tupou said.

“He’s an all-time Roosters great and I don’t want to go past his milestone. He is one of the best players to have ever put on the jersey.”

Totally! He's only 31 and often gets forgotten in the salary discussions as he's been such a reliable & loyal servant to our club. Hope Politis find a few paper bags full of cash for him and that Toops keeps playing for many years to come.

3 Premierships and rep honours at all levels. TBH we're lucky yawnion didn't target him because he's the more established player at this point in his career.

Surely Toops isn't considering retirement. He still needs to win a fourth premiership ring

Beautifully put RWB. Toups is a legend both on and off the field.

I actually didn't know how Daniel had made his way to the Roosters so I found that Fox article in their archives. All I remember is that Parra were stupid in not recognising his value and that Daniel was out Auburn way.

Is it selfish if I want him to score 4 tries against them on Thursday night, to break the record? Am I asking too much?

Thanks Bruce but when it comes to Toups, he writes his own superlatives.

Everyone who said that was 100% correct though. He ran too tall into the defense and they got under him and drove him back.

To his credit, he fixed it and now is a beast when running it back.

They wanted him gone, said he would never make it, ignored other aspects of his game that kept him in the starting lineup when they couldn’t work out why he was still at the club all
over an issue that wasn’t even a major problem at all. They’re generally the same people who wanted JWH gone before 2013

I'd never heard of him before he came to Easts.

All I remember from his debut (in Canberra - I was there) was that I showed up and was pretty angry about this dude I'd never heard of being named on the wing (during what was a pretty ordinary season). Figured we were up for another cricket score. Instead, we lost narrowly and he played a great game. The next week he scored 2 or 3 tries against the Tigpies?

Never had a bad thing to say about Toops. One of pur greatest of all time... if he was off demanding more $$$ because he's an Origin winger, we'd be having a difficult time.

Yes I remember clearly all the Toups bashing on here. ‘Oh he’s been driven back 10 metres as usual’ etc etc. Unless you’re an instant star for some, you’re no good.

Pretty sure he was suffering a lat issue during that time. Picked it up playing origin I think.

I was always a supporter but I'm still surprised at how good he's become.

I remember he and Roger came on at the end of 2012, and it was a nice pick me up watching those 2 play after a forgettable season.

Wasn't prepared for what was to happen in the next year though.
