I was always a supporter but I'm still surprised at how good he's become.

I remember he and Roger came on at the end of 2012, and it was a nice pick me up watching those 2 play after a forgettable season.

Wasn't prepared for what was to happen in the next year though.
I can’t remember when it happened but you’re right, one year it just all clicked and he became a powerhouse. No more being driven back in attack and making ridiculous metre gains game after game. I actually thought his debut game was against the Tigers when he scored a hat trick I think, but ism mentioned it was against Canberra.

My physio is actually one of the physio's for the Tongan National Team (And part of the Cowboys physio team). He knows I'm a massive Roosters fan, and so we always talk about Toops and SST. He couldn't speak highly enough of both guys and said they were both legends on and off the field. He said Toops is one of the most chilled and humble guys he's ever met, and that if SST didn't have his knee problems that he would of been just as destructive as Jason Taumololo.....Also SST is a super brilliant boxer, but struggles to get pro fights as even more seasoned pros as reluctant to fight him.

Earlier this year, the modest Tupou admitted he felt embarrassed to be within reach of breaking Minichiello‘s record.

“I’m blessed to be able to come so close to reaching that milestone, but at the same time I don’t want it to be my main focus. I also don’t want to beat Mini’s amazing Roosters milestone,” Tupou said.

“He’s an all-time Roosters great and I don’t want to go past his milestone. He is one of the best players to have ever put on the jersey.”

In a world full of self absorbed egomaniacs too busy worrying about their 'personal brand', Daniel not only literally stands head and shoulders above them, but figuratively also. How blessed are we, as Roosters fans, to have had the privilege of watching him play all these years? He is a genuine club man, not wanting the spotlight on himself but on the team, and thinking of Anthony and paying tribute to his old captain, rather than focussing on what he can grab for himself. Like others on here, I do hope it will be ANZAC Day he will achieve this and I hope the club releases some merchandise to mark the occasion also..Something we can all add to the pool room..

Oh and I'll say it again for the millionth time..stupid stupid Parra for not recognising his talents..Rod Reddy did though..

Here's to you Daniel, not only for the player you are, but for the great example you've displayed wearing our jersey all these years with pride and excellence. Quiet, humble achievers are my kind of people as they are the ones who keep the world turning.
He's in my all time top favourite players alongside another modest humble champion in Brett Kenny.
          Well said !

Great to hear. They both come across like that. Two bonafide club legends that let their footy do the talking. I cannot understate the admiration and love I have for both of them, especially Toops. Takes quiet achiever to the next level. Bloke has been an ELITE winger for the best part of a decade and you hear nothing from him. 3 Premierships aswell!!

For sure. Has been consistently one of our best for a few years now.

I think we need a special/unique chant or cheer for Toops when we're at the game.

If anyone watched WCW Wrestling in the late 90s .... there was a wrestler who went on an absolute tear, his name was/is "Goldberg" anyways ... I'm thinking a chat a long the lines of

                "TOOOOOPOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU"

(if Parra can chant Sivo ... then I'm sure we can cheer for Toops)

over an issue that wasn’t even a major problem at all. They’re generally the same people who wanted JWH gone before 2013
Toops had a outstanding 2013 and everyone expected him to kick on. Unfortunately for one reason or another the next 3 seasons never lived up to 2013 and yes he was running sideways too often making him a easy target to be driven back. He also had issues with his reads in defence, was always trying to ball play leading to handling errors and he lost his confidence in attacking high kicks.

Would i have got rid of him at this point? Yes i will own up- i would have. Thats why im just a mug supporter and Robbo has 3 premierships in 10 years.

When Toops turned it around he did so in a major way- he turned into a alpha beast and critics like me were left eating shit.

Now he ranks as the greatest Easts winger since 1908-he has no peers. He deserves to be the clubs highest try scorer ever and a contract that will make him a one club player and living legend.

Remember in the off season of 2012 in to 2013 and people were calling for that Oldfield fella to play instead of Tupou? He played 1 game for us and then didn’t get sighted in the NRL for another 3 or 4 years. I can’t recall Daniel being dropped from the team at all since he made his debut down in Canberra the night Mini got sent off which was in late 2012.

My pleasure and like I was saying to the other gentlemen on here, I couldn't exactly remember how Daniel had been discovered in the first place. It's always nice to find a positive article about a Roosters player.

Hope all is well Norfolk with you too.

Thank you and I just had this thought - when Daniel breaks the record, how great is it going to be on here? We'll all be united in enjoying this moment in our great club's history and also celebrating the champion he is.

                              So......

if he signs up again and we have signed Murphy and Young, what gives?
Add in Momo, Paulo, Smith, Alan, etc.

Thanks again, still stuck inside with the shingles, been 4 weeks now so I think the worst is over but still the swelling around my left eye, and the headaches.
They say keep out of the sun and rest, which is very boring, but I am lucky in many other ways. looking forward to this weeks game.
