It's an in house joke, I wouldn't expect many to get it.
We should be investing in players committed to OUR code. We shouldn’t be wasting precious salary cap prepping players for other codes knowingly. And he’s gonna take what he learns at our expense this and next year and hand all our goodwill to RU$$$. And what did we get for it all?
Hopefully a premiership or two.

Yep Gus definitely deserves some respect around here

He’s a very strange man as HG and Roy used to say but he did much for the club

It's just Gus feeling lonely & wanting some air time to be cheeky. Who care's, his opinion is as valid as anyone else's. (Except that knob Tallis)

Gus was a major player in the 90's in turning us around. He no doubt still has a soft spot for the chooks.

Gus didn’t build a premiership ready team the cold truth is he couldn’t get the team over the preliminary final hump and quit instead of taking on the final hurdle. He did great things but build the 2002 team he did not.

He chose us because at most other teams he wouldn’t get the same quality development he needs for RU. If he was SBW or Cronk sure I’d take even a year but he’s nowhere near as good and easily replaced with a player committed to the code. Whatever team he joined I very much doubt he’s that good to win them a premiership. He threw us a dummy and we fell for it. Now we have to keep him while training or finding a replacement.

Naturally I wish JS was staying with us, but I reckon he will be back. Robbo's comments about him bleeding RWB only add to this view. The fact that he had the clause in his contract always meant that this would happen. No one can be surprised by it all. Let him take the money and come back when he is 25 or so and still in his prime.

Regarding Gus. Who gives a toss what Gould thinks.... i doubt very much that he would've been telling Burton to leave the NRL today if he had been the player to sign with union for 2024.

I enjoyed the eloquent Robbo interview.
The club and team take a lot of shit from the NRL media partners for years, so I was pleased recently around the time we played the vermin and now this week with Robbo nailing the media who went too far.
Personally, my opinion on Phil Gould narcissistic/ sycophant character type I’ve never taken to as a player or coach, even his time at Easts, and since then has become less relevant however his character type battles with the irrelevance therefore he became a tabloid media employee at Ch 9.

Gould would love to have JS leave now especially before they play us to give his berries half a chance of winning something.
This is a total conflict of interest to start a campaign against a promising player from an opposition team.
Good luck to JS making $5mil before the age of 24, and I feel certain he will show his love for the RWB over the next 18 months by helping us win a premiership or two.

There’s one thing that’s for sure.

Unlike someone who will remain nameless, Joseph won’t blow his millions of $ on gambling and need his ‘uncle’ to bail him out.
