Given that Teddy essentially missed the entire match last night, one could almost mount an argument that that is his 1 match on the sidelines after an HIA.

I'll add another comment: If a player is binned for 10 minutes for a high shot, and the player he hit is ruled out of the rest of the match, the player in the bin who hit him should likewise be wiped out for the rest of the match.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

• 1ST game of the season for me It was a game we never looked like losing and we looked good still missing a lot of players. We have a very strong squad and should go deep into the season. Jaxon Paulo is very nimble and light on his feet just needs to learn to cover his winger in defence and we will have a very good winger for a long time.

On another note it was nice to run into some old timers from the Wall whom I hadnt seen for quite some time in Cannon Margo and sit beside a few others in Rachel Phantom and FC Id forgotten wat a funny cnut FC was at a game some classic comments from him last night

Hutch is a reserve grader who tries his guts out and sticks to what he is told. He got caught out a few times tonight in attack because he's too slow but defence wise was excellent. Aubo on the other hand was one of the best defenders of his generation and wouldve had 20+ origins under his belt if he was born North of the Tweed where they respect hard work and less flash a bit more.

Nethertheless, onya Hutch for the solid outing but new Aubo is huge stretch.
I agree with the comments which i have highlighted.
I think Hutch is a real trier, who has been great for us as a 14 and a fill in to cover injury.
Would he make our full strength starting 13 run on side ?
No.
Will he be our 14 when and if Watson is available and fit ?
Probably not.
Is he the new Aubs ?
Definitely not.
Is the coach trying to encourage him and get the best out of him?
Definitely yes !!
I immediately thought when I heard the comment...... "good on you Trent"
I think one of the biggest parts of a coaches job is managing so many individuals, and trying to get the best out of them, and making the hard calls when one has to be dropped, yet still building their confidence and self belief.
I think Robbo has a huge appreciation for someone like Hutch, not a star, never will be, but gives his best, what more can you ask..... maybe he reminds Trent of himself as a young player.
I have never bagged Hutch's contribution as a low wage utility fill in. I love the guy, he is what he is and i'm grateful for him,
I just wish we could get a full strength team on the park.

I have been blathering the exact same thing to the TV screen since Teddy got taken out in semi last year. The offending team needs to be punished more than 10 min for the infraction.

Good post and good point regarding Trent using it as motivation for him. I definitely think Trent, as a limited but competent first grader, does see a bit of himself in the Hutch.

• I see justice with the simonnson hit - 3 weeks

parra fans blowing up blaming teddy for falling

it was a late shot, high shot and shoulder charge - it should be been sent off, we missed teddy for 60min and possibly next week over it

I have a mate who loves parra and said his excuse was refs and missing paulo

I then went back to him and said I would love to have 1 or 2 players out, we have 9 or 10

and if we took half the opportunities we had we could have scored 50

they got two week tries at the end to make the score look better, actually I cannot believe how bad they were considering it hey had a so call injury crises with 2 players out

• Couldn’t get to the game last night but viewed it on Ch 9 with friends. It’s been years since watching Ch 9. The commentary was absolutely woeful. It took the dick heads to call Bondi Joe as FB over 10min after Teddy went off.
Interestingly no real praise of the Roosters style of game or defence during the match. It was all about Parra. The roosters got the wraps post game.
It’s difficult to get a 80min performance. Last night they were humming. Others have praised the players performances and I would like to make mention about Fletch Baker. He seemed faster last night so he must be working on his speed.

•
when Yoko joined the band........".

Love it! Is it an original? Not heard it before but will add it to the kit.

BTW, does anyone think that Egan's beautifully executed but disallowed try decision was a bit rough? Was the defender ever a chance of catching up with Toops or Egan? I had the sound off and didn't catch the reason but I presumed it was the Keary interference when falling.

• Great write ups by stringaz and norfolk that summarised a terrific performance.
I was only thinking last night when the Butcher brothers combined to make a tackle about how good that would be to do that in the top grade and realise what would have been a childhood dream.
I'll put my hand up and say I had my reservations about us after the first two rounds but the combinations are starting to click and when we hold onto the ball are a genuine threat.

It reminded me of the 01 gf, if the game went for 10 mins longer we were gone. The end was terrible.

Parra hung in there in the first half considering they played half of the 1st half with 12 men.
What the score would of been if they didn’t have Gutho God only knows.
Anyway we can now all relax for the weekend well sort of, our house goes up for auction tomorrow & we’ll see what happens.
You moving to Redfern Mate?

Best of luck with the sale.

Brilliant point, but is no help to us since our next match is in six days time. It's an eleven day stand-down isn't it? I'm personally not too worried about playing Melbourne without him. We are the real deal this year.

Whilst we did have a couple of things go our way, the Teddy hit should have been a send off. That could have been the bunker though.

We also had to use the captains challenge twice for incorrect calls. If there was a stat for the club with the most successful captains challenges, we would be near number one. We cop quite a few dud calls which we have to go the effort of getting overturned.

Lastly, I had to watch channel 9 coverage last night for a roosters game for the first time in a long time. It was dreadful. All about Parra who had a couple of players out and how brave they were. It wasn’t until about full time that it was acknowledged we had about 7 regular first graders out. Pathetic.
