  • According to NRL stats...

Cronulla had the ball for ~31 minutes and got 14 penalties. That's 1 penalty every 2 and a bit minutes (and one every 3 sets that they had). On top of that, they played against 12 men for nearly 20% of the game and at one stage it was 11 men. They also had 55% of possession.

Easts miraculously managed to complete at 88% but somehow, unbeknown to anyone else, they couldn't jag a decent penalty from the pr!ck with the whistle. Cronulla got 2 restarts (I call bull on that stat - surely they got 3 or 4 in a row at the end of the first half) and the Roosters got their only set restart after 4 minutes - long before anyone had settled into their pattern of play.

All up, Cronulla had 51 (60%) sets and Easts had 34 (40%).

How in hell does any team win with that sort of lopsided favouritism going against them?
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

You've made two threads bagging the refs, Roosters were not good enough tonight, time to move past it and look towards next game.

We were ordinary in attack But the referee was equally as ordinary He absolutely hammered us

The other thread did not discuss the stats. It just contained mere observation. It's impossible to move past blatant cheating and look forward to the next game. It will just be more of the same sh!t.

Interesting. The refereeing was a disgrace but we still didn’t play well enough. Our attack was terrible. It’s a bit like the media and faiders fans claiming that the infamous 6 again cost them the GF when they’re attack was useless and could not break down our defence.

A better interpretation of the penalties stats, is that Cronulla got a penalty about every 2.5 sets and were given a new set on every 2.2 occasions they had possession. I arrive at these numbers by deducting 14 (penalties) from their 51 total sets as well as 16 (penalties plus the bullsh!t NRL stat of only 2 restarts) from the same 51 sets and then doing the ratios.

The numbers are much worse when you use completed sets rather than total sets. Using those numbers, Cronulla got a penalty every 1.78 completed set or, on every 1.25 completed set they either got a penalty or a set restart.

              What a frigging joke.
