Sorry, yes...you're right - got my ages and argument mixed up (another post when I was 1 hour into wine-time). In forward terms, I suppose 27 is hardly over the hill, and 30 is probably getting there, but unless we lose all our forwards, I can't see Napa having too much of a role in first grade.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Interesting that Cleary said in the presser that it was probably the Riff’s worst performance. Yet this thread was created off the back of that. The grass always appears greener on the other side.

it’s a bit of a wank when teams use these sayings, one of the broncos players were interviewed after full time, and when asked what changed after half time, he said they went back to playing “broncos” footy.

Mate, I don't think we have a young-bloods side like the Panthers where our top 19, 21 - 30 are all young, fit, fast, aggressive and are just built like brick shithouses (genetically well-built) and have over 10 years of playing chemistry/cohesion. The Panthers are a very unique side and there is no side in the NRL that comes close to how they are set up, coached and how they play the game. Prior to Robbo's arrival the Roosters only had a few good years i.e. 2000 - 2004 and then randomly in 2010. Since Robbo has arrived, he's had to deal with all sorts of on-field and off-field dramas especially dealing with some former long-term players i.e. Pearce but we've been successful nonetheless during his reign as coach with a few premierships, minor premierships, final appearances, world club challenge titles, Auckland 9s title etc (barring the shit show that was 2016). Our approach/tactic of footy where we tend to 'flick the switch' coming out of origin may actually be what is known as the "Roosters Way". Prior to the mid-point of the seasons, there is a lot of fine tuning, combinations to set, fitness and conditioning but as long as we are in the top 8 and close to the top 4 ... when the time is right, we WILL click and shake up the entire comp.

Last year when we went on an 8 in a row demolition until the week 1 finals UFC match ... we looked like world beaters ! and we can repeat that again this season and actually be even better ! .... so don't lose hope, keep your head high, be positive and maintain your rage and enthusiasm !

"I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, and most ruthless champion there's ever been. There's no one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I'm Alexander, he's no Alexander. I'm the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston, I'm Jack Dempsey. There's no one like me. I'm from their cloth. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous, my defence is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children. - Mike Tyson"

When I say cry, I don't mean I literally cry, I'm using it as an adjective to describe a hurtful feeling.

You understand that we intentionally start slow but you still don't understand why we intentionally start slow.

Here is the thing about last year. Without Lodge we don't go on that winning streak. Too many busted ageing forwards. Even if we had beaten the Dogs and Dragons to remain in top 4 contention, we still needed to beat the Storm in 2nd last round to make top 4. It was the necessity to beat the Storm which ended our season. JWH busted hand and Collins suspension.

This year is the same as every year. If we are not good enough to make the top 4 despite starting slow, then we are likely not good enough to win it anyway.

                      Facts!

I've said it in a few other posts... literally the worst possible thing for a premiership tilt is to play at your absolute best 2-3 weeks BEFORE the finals start just to either make the finals or finish Top 4. History shows it given nobody outside the 4 ever wins it because you cannot possibly win 3-4 high quality high intensity footy games in a row. Great point on that Melbourne game. It was a war and they had to back it up against Parramatta who were fighting for Top 4 aswell and it effectively ended their seasons aswell as they lost a couple of players from that game and meekly limped out in Week 1 of the finals.

Nobody is asking the Chooks to win 50-0 every week and be 22-0 heading into the finals, but we don't want to be losing to teams well outside of contention every year which is the literal definition of the term '2 points dropped'.

At least we will only missing 2 or 3 players during origin. Maybe that's Robbo's thought process with starting slowly.

Robbo has always been quick to push for our boys to rep NSW and Australia - it's good for their development and confidence being in high pressured games.

Penrith are good, but crikey, let's not go overboard.

The 90's Broncos and Raiders and the recent Storm have been unrelenting as well.

FTR I rate Langer, Sterling, Stuart, Johns and Mortimer above Cleary atm. If he wins another 3 premierships and at least 2 more Clive Churchills, Dally M's and another 3 SOO series, then I'll put him in GOAT conversation. Also has to have 10 Kangaroo caps.

thats a stupid criteria, yea i understand you rate him below those players but to say 3 more premierships and 2 ccs ...ridiculous , he could achieve that , but whether he does or doesn't wont dictate whether he is below , equal or surpass those players

Think the poster means Rif seem to find a way to win and sometimes we find a way to , well you know , loose
