Cronk had so much more than block plays in his locker but what made him so great are the intangibles that you can't teach e.g. positioning, game awareness, toughness, leadership. You can't really teach those traits, they are attitude based.
    Between the ears mate.

Cronk is a really really smart person, and is also really really studious. He is an intellectual. You can't take what he did on the field and replicate it even in a talented half, because if they don't have the same brain it doesn't work.

Having said all that, do we know for sure is we have been trying to mould Walker into a Cronk clone, when that is a futile exercise anyway? I really don't think we would be.

On the family stuff, that is a really poor look for the Walkers imo.

      • Does anyone know if Walker has been named in NSW cup?

The only team lists I could find has a HB & 2nd row position blank https://www.nswrl.com.au/draw/nsw-cu...ers-v-dragons/

Have to wait - 1 hour before the kick off any changes to the 17 will be known so you will also see who is playing in the positions that have no players name.

Clubs populate the teams lists - whoever does it for the Roosters often leaves positions vacant(i.e no players name) and even lists the starting 17 as all outs

          • My theory is that one of the reasons Walker has been dropped is because of his ill discipline with giving too many penalties/6As away.

From memory, he has given away at least 1 every game this season from standing offside (particularly when defending near our line), so maybe Robbo has had enough.

This on top of his loss of form and confidence.

But he is a quality player and I expect him to fight his way out of this.

However if he (or his family) choose to throw their toys out of their cots with Robbo's decision, then we don't want this type of player in our jersey anyway ...

You’re theory may be correct, but if that was the case Radley would be playing the whole year in reserve grade!

Cronk is an intellectual? Come on man that is crazy talk. Smarter than the average footballer though.

Didn't he used to have a website promoting literary works that inspired him and taking inspiration from the Monegasque royal family and trips to Machu Pichu or something?

I think he and Robbo would spend hours talking absolute guff to eachother.

                        • I Don’t think for a second Cronk is doing anything other than encouraging Sam to play his style but teaching him some of the universal basics of being a 7 - the roosters have been open about empowering Walker to play his game and not shackling him.

lacks pace even Hutcho is faster than him...that his major fault apart from defensive issues . Cronk wasnt fast but had enough to handle it so I am guessing Cronk is trying to teach him to use his brains and input more...and he doesnt want to know about it. Thats if all the inuendo is true running to daddy to cry ..I hope he is not this type he doesnt seem like it but forces in the media will beat it up to help their own agendas out .
Hpe he is more like tough in the head and can comeback ...otherwise if he is a sook and doesnt want to learn then fark him off

That is a misconception. Cronk was clocked as one of the fastest players on the field during one of his last SOO appearances as a 33yo.

                              • Walker certainly could learn some things from Cronk about when to pull the trigger and strategies, and directing a pack, and if he can add this to his spontaneity and creativity he could be anything. I just don't think dropping him so publicly, and for this very high profile game is the right call...... surely they could COACH him without the humiliation. There has to be balance both ways.
I've seen the frustration for a few weeks with Sam, and I saw him try things that didn't come off, sometimes through his mistake and more often through those around him. I've never seen him shirk anything.
I just hope this doesn't backfire, it ccertainly gives ammo to the Flippers, and the Drongos, all the Queensland clubs.
