I honestly think shifting Manu to 5/8 is strengthening one position and weakening one or possibly two.
is Manu a better 5/8 right now then Keary?
There is an argument there Robbo could be weakening all 3 positions really .
I think Walker will be back within two weeks max.
keary looked a bit out of sorts with his stint at seven last season and failed to deliver, imo.
Walker needs some help and there is no clear dominant half atm.
This rest might take some pressure off him and do him the world of good , he has a long way to go yet with his development. Hopefully it's just a bump in the road.Last edited by Bondicigar; 04-21-2023, 11:40 PM.

It's the correct decision by Coach Robinson to shakeup the under performing spine as currently they are not generating the required points or creating opportunities for points in offense in games.
Walker now has the opportunity to take a step back and re-assess his game in consultation with the Coaching staff and halves Consultant Cronk
Manu had to be moved to where the ball is as it was certainly not getting out to him in the centres
As the late Great Tommy Lasorda ( LA Dodgers Manager for 20 years) said about Baseball players
There are three types of players
1. Those that make it happen
2. Those that watch it happen
3. Those that wonder what happened
The Roosters need more of the number 1 type of player especially in the so called spine.

It's not under 7's where coaches would be confronted by Parents in why their kid wasn't playing or some other kid was playing instead of their kid.
Why I coached 14's and 16's as by that stage the kids that weren't very good or had other interests stopped playing and only those who wanted to play and were good enough to keep playing would continue so none of the Parents in your ear or on your case.
I look at the career of Phil Blake who was an attacking half certainly better than what Walker is at this stage as someone who was also targeted in defense
I can only assume that being targeted in D eventually affected the offense side of the game - you can't be overthinking one side of your game as it will be detrimental to the other side of your game.
I remember Blake playing a raft of backline positions (Fullback/Wing/Centre, 5/8) and from the bench to move him from half back to positions where he would not be targeted as much in D plus also playing for a raft of clubs
Surprisingly though I notice Blake is currently the defense coach for the QLD Reds in Rugby
Not sure if Walker is overthinking the D side of his game to the detriment of his Offense side of his game which is maybe what Coach Robinson is alluding too " I want him to run our system completely in reserve grade and free himself to find parts of his game that he has always had. I wanted him to go and rediscover that. The path to freedom is playing through your system"

still, that’s at least something. Dropping a half tends to be a death knell but hopefully it turns out like Mam

If hes playing good enough my guess would be hel be back even if we are winning .
Sitilli and Gus back in will help his cause and I think with a full squad to pick from we are stronger with walker at 7. Imo

How would he play like a busted?
The kid is the victim here, no way he should be playing reserves.
