Radley is off limits. He has the 2nd most sharpest footy brain only behind Cronk. (Trying to keep a straight face writing this) "giggle" giggle" snort" snort"

Hutch is also the new Aubbo & ..............

sorry couldn't finish this post anymore due to writing this hilarious stuff, too hard to hold it in.

      3. How do you know this is based on stats? It could be purely based on Sam ignoring game plans and instructions from the coach
      1. Absolutely true. If other players are the problem, they should have been dropped. Scapegoating the kid is pretty poor man management, especially if he is, as you say, "our future".
      2. Nick Politis and Robbo, along with a few others, dragged themselves out to Wentworth Park on a rainy Saturday afternoon to "show support". His mother was apparently going to fly down from Queensland (but I don't know if she did). Were they all being melodramatic as well, or do they also see the risk of spectacularly demoting a talented half, "our future", before an extremely high-profile game, in a sport where there aren't enough to go around? It beggars belief.
      3. Other players have publicly ignored Robbo's instructions (Radley) and still maintain their spot. But sure, blame Walker. He's young.

        1. Dropping Walker will only be effective if Walker was the only problem with the team.
        2. The outrage is not about an emotional attachment to Sam Walker but to an emotional attachment to the Roosters, and it is a "big picture" view. This decision has the potential to cause long-term repercussions for the club and I'm not on board with anything that jeopardises the club's ability to perform in the future. I don't think I'm alone here either - Nick Politis was out at Wentworth Park yesterday "to show his support" for Sam, why do you think he NEEDED to show his support?
        3. If Robbo was actually looking at the "big picture", he would not be paying such minute attention to the stats and be more worried about losing Walker altogether at a time when halfbacks are hard to come by, and Keary is one head-knock away from ending his career. If Sam is to be running the whole thing in the future, they might want to treat him like he is one of the emerging leaders of the club, not the expendable junior.

If the so called "outrage" isn't an emotional attachment to Sam Walker but to the Roosters then how come the players I mentioned cop the wrath on here and some incessantly - Shouldn't this so called "emotional attachment" to the Roosters also mean that these Roosters players are shown respect?.

Sam Walker being relegated to NSW Cup won't mean the club will fold or fall into disarray now or in the future- your absolutely stretching the so called long term repercussion angle a tad too far one has to say - players come and go and there are always players to replace those that leave.

Maybe Coach Robbo and Uncle Nick were having their normal catch-up and it just happened to coincide with the NSW Cup game being on same day - Not the only NSW Cup game that Coach Robinson has attended for both the Roosters and North Sydney Bears NSW Cup sides

It's a game based on stats as much as it's about who wins or loses as if these didn't matter why do they record stats or keep score - apologies to Big Jack Gibson's Mate Vince Lombardi for somewhat using his quote - " If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score?”

Of course they pay attention to stats in reviewing player KPI's.

I know someone who used to do the game day stats for Wests Tigers from their inception to late 2008 or so and Wayne Pearce/Terry Lamb and especially Tim Sheens certainly used them

They also have the Vice Sport Tracker I think it's called as well that measure a range of player KPI's and other player related data - i.e speed/movement/force of collisions over a season etc which of course would not be possible with the naked eye.

The ball is in Sam Walkers Court now - he would know what he has to work on so no use kicking the can down the road

No Pain no Gain as they say

Early 2020, Rugby League as we knew it, was cancelled.
In its place was introduced Rugba Leeg...one ref instead of two, rolling 6 agains and a faster game.
This culminated in the birth of "circus music and streamers" at our games.
Also Covid...and the retirement of our biggest stars.
          We're still rebuilding.
Paulo instead of BMoz, Suaalii instead of JMoz, Walker instead of Cronk, and Mitchell up and left.
Difficult time to be coaching the Roosters.

Some of your defence on certain things can be called a gee up.

How much is Robbo paying you?

Anyway the real Roosters to turn up & slay the Dragons by 18 or more.

Yep, take all your points. I would be very disappointed if Sam felt he needed his mummy there to watch him play. If that's the case then I don't think he's the player for us and I wonder if he was the one who told his mum to wake up to herself and stay home. Get the Radley perspective completely as well. I just wonder what was expected of Sam and why he was singled out, I don't think its anywhere near the same as the Flanagan situation. He was called into the office and told he had no future at the club. Sam is still very much wanted by the club and the coaching staff

                  • Are those stats much different to his first 6 games in 1st grade this year?

Am I reading this right? 9 kicks for 195m is average of around 20m per kick. Were they tackle 5 clearance kicks?

Mate I have defended you though thick and thin and love what you contribute to the site but fair dinkum sometimes you just disagree for the sake of it .You are bloody wrong .Sam was not the reason we have been losing and certainly if he was dropped should not have been first cab off the rank

You need to drill down and to delve deeper into the problem - A Simplistic approach won't solve the the issues with the spine.

Posters are saying drop Radley but who would replace him and will this magically fix the underperforming spine issue - No it won't

Posters are saying get rid of the Butcher Brothers as they offer nothing in attack - mmm they make 80 to 90 or so tackles between them in a game - which players do they have in mind to replace them to take on this work load - also will this magically fix the underperforming spine - No it won't

None of these will solve the spines problems.

Whether Crichton and Sitili will make a difference is unknown as they both have had their detractors and still will - Crichton shouldn't be re-signed and Sitili shouldn't be in the team as he misses too many tackles.

                          Anyway - repeating

As I have said the problem is the underperforming spine - 1 / 6 / 7 / 9 in the generating of points and scoring opportunity in offense - 2 games in succession no points scored in the second half - Manu is like a shag on a rock waiting for the ball out in the centres and being one of the main attacking options needs to be closer to where the ball is at 5/8.

Walkers has lost his mojo in the running side of his game - Coach Robinson alludes to that in the reasoning for Walkers relegation which I have referenced a number of times

                          The stats show this
                          • Dolphins - 12 runs 135 metres
                          • Warriors - 8 runs 110 metres
                          • Souths - 9 runs 47 metres
                          • Parramatta - 7 runs 28 metres
                          • Storm - 5 runs 35 metres
                          • Sharks - 4 runs 31 metres

B Smith also needs to improve his game too as his service from dummy half is between good to average to poor most likely as a result of fatigue setting in - He won't be an 80 minute player week in week out unless he sheds some KG's and improves his fitness and stamina - 50 odd minutes is his max at this stage.

Keary needs to take a leadership role as the senior half which is still a WIP. - Many think he is not that type of half though

This is the correct decision on two fronts - Keary and Manu are the best halves combo at the current point in time and Walker needs to regain confidence in his running game and improve other aspects of his game which are best worked on and addressed by practice practice and more practice at training and game wise in NSW Cup rather than NRL.

Not sure about the kicking as I wasn't there - maybe those that were can answer that.

The Stat that Coach Robinson would like and be encouraged by is the stats on Receipts/Passes All Runs and Pass to Run Ratio - one of the areas that Coach Robinson was wanting Walker to work on- Pass to Run Ratio

Walkers pass to run ratio in NRL had ballooned to 5.95 - 5.95 passes for every run

Halfbacks such as Walker in NRL have pass to run ratios from 2 to 3.- 2 to 3 passes for every run.

So for an example if Walker had 6 receipts of the ball - he is basically only passing the ball in games

Much easier for the defense then if they know that Walker is only going to pass the ball and not run as their D can then concentrate on the players that he will be passing the ball to.

If Walker is in that to 2 to 3 pass to run ratio range then the defence is in two or three minds - Will Walker run , Will he kick or Will he pass

I'm assuming this accounts for 5/9 of those kicks being bombs, grubs and winger cross kicks. However his long kick game is his biggest weakness imho...but even young Sam makes more than 20m with his clearing kicks...just.
