Hi everyone.
I've had a name/account change on here recently but have actually been on this site since 2011. Before that I frequented the old wall as well.
Followed the Roosters fulltime/watched 99 percent of our games since the 2002 GF.
A bandwagoner for 21 straight years if you will.
Sadly, my mother passed away last Friday.
She had followed Easts for nigh on 60 years. She was born somewhere down near Bega way, (1947) but ended up living with her adoptive parents in Maroubra in her youth.
We have lived up here on the Tweed since the mid 80's.
Mum actually had a job as Secretary/P.A. to the Football administrator for the Seagulls footy club when they had the stadium there. We live up the hill a little from the club.
Apparently she worked for Bob Fulton in Sydney before I was born and attended Roosters games in the 60's - 70's with her then husband who actually played 5/8 centre in the Roosters juniors for some time.
I think she even mentioned she worked in a bar in Sydney where Artie Beeston would sit up the end and played cards. Had the odd drink with him too.
I hope I haven't bummed anyone out with this post, but I'm trying to celebrate mum's life and she is responsible for bringing me in to the Roosters fold after all.
Unfortunately mum has been in poor health for years and I have been her carer all the way along.
That night in September 2019 in our lounge room when the chooks went back to back was the most special moment that I'll always cherish to have shared with her and for the rest of my life.
I just wanted to acknowledge her on here and let people know that we have lost one of the Roosters family. She didn't frequent this site but I would always be talking to her about the discussions on here and we watched every game together.
Sometimes we'd travel to Suncorp or the Titans ground to watch whenever the Roosters would travel up here.
We one day actually watched a trial match at Carrara, Roosters v Penrith, the same match Brett Finch broke both his hands trying to tackle one of the Panthers forwards.
Fittler was coach.
We had snagged some tickets to the "inner circle" a kind of corporate box without the box so to speak.
After the game we were allowed into the sheds to mingle with the players and coaching staff. I posted some pictures of the day back on the old wall.
Got to chat/autographs with Wing Pearce Anasta Chris Walker Anthony Tupou SKD Mate Myles Sam Perret Danny Nutley and the like. Wayne Pearce was there also.
A great day to remember.
I would love the Chooks to get up for Mum tommorrow, it doesn't matter either way as I have many memories of us and our passion for Easts that strengthed our bond as mother and son.
Farewell to A Mother Hen and Lest we forget.
Rest easy mum.
