Yes and also Tadgh Kennelly whose role was to teach players especially Wingers how to catch the ball from those high cross field kicks - See a lot of Wingers especially catching those kicks AFL Mark style

The real proof will be how young Sam responds to what the coach has asked from him on the field over the next 3 or 4 weeks. Sam’s extremely capable, so if he doesn’t start controlling the NSW Cup team and dominating in attack in that time, well, I think we will all know what he really thinks of his future at Easts and how it will end.

If he achieves what’s been asked of him, the coach absolutely must bring him back into the fold asap otherwise he risks irreparably damaging Sam’s confidence and his trust in the coach.

Assuming he achieves what is asked of him, who will the coach drop out of Manu or Keary, given Hutch will have cemented the centre spot by then?

He could've said a lot less or absolutely nothing.

These are not signs of a player aggravating for a release and are consistent with his comments in the past.

Seems to have a lot of self-awareness and his head screwed on.

Walker won't be a Rooster next season imo.

The reality for Sam is that when the time is right, he is being given the keys to a Rolls Royce! He will inherit a team with Manu, Tedesco, Collins, Leniu, Young, Smith, Butchers, Sitili, Victor…,Etc etc
A full team of experienced first graders with many years in front of most of them… with no rebuilding required. And a stream of talented up and comers!
Exciting times ahead and he could be the man to lead this squad for the next decade!
And you’d think he knows that if a player is needed, the Roosters are the place to be!

He did say the right things.

Then again, many years ago Shannon Hegarty said he wasn’t going anywhere and 2 days later he was released to join Souths.

I believe that Robbo’s decision will result in us losing the kid that would have been our halfback for the next decade and that Sam will go on to become a dominant star at another club and we will be crying much like the dogs looking back at Thurston.

In the meantime, Robbo has prioritised an ageing Keary whose best years are well behind him and is likely to retire sooner than later, playing Manu out of position at five eight which in the past 2 games has seen him running around in more circles than even Teddy normally does and picking Hutchison.

I’m fast losing faith in Robbo.

That’s real humility, the hallmark of all the greatest players to lace on a boot. That attitude will have him playing representative footy. Congratulations son for taking it like a man a nd your loyalty to the roosters.

Maybe a loan? I’d think that’s worst case. Worked a treat for Harry

Whilst I haven't lost faith in Robbo yet - he's just built up so much respect during probably our greatest era of sustained success since at least the 30s - I am aghast at the way he has handled Walker. And I do believe that he'll now be a Dolphin either next year or after his contract expires.

On top of that I see how Souffs play such beautiful attacking footy with a less talented roster and wonder why we've looked like bumbling clowns week after week for a few years now.

Apparently the answer is that it's Walkers fault. And now we beat two average teams and all of a sudden that justifies the decision to drop Sam; who has dropped so far down the pecking order that Robbo would rather play Hutch the Slug at centre than see Manu back where he belongs and put Sam back in the team.

He'll leave over this. The words are nice but mean nothing. And we'll be left signing a Luke Brooks type to replace Keary.

Walker was underperforming and he said it himself - posted countless times showing how he was not even running the ball (pass to run ratio KPI) which at this stage of his career being a running half mostly is one of his roles

Being relegated from the side to find that part of his game again and work on other parts was the best call by Coach Robinson.

                              No pain no gain

                                Good post.

Of course Robbo has done a fine job, and with that out of the road, my brother Lorenzo the Lunatic could have coached that player list to GF wins.

Potentially lose Sammy Walker, then it's obvious, no one's steering the ship.
