He defends better as a 5/8 then as a centre. What's not to like? Haven't seen a real kicking game from him yet - surely with his size and power he has some kind of boot on him?
I reckon Robbo is smarter than a lot on here are giving credit for. Even the hutchinator - some of the vitriol is so over the top.
We just can't have 2 tiny halves - and grooming Joey at 6 may just keep him at the club long term. And the long term may be a Walker/Manu halves combo.

BTW wasn’t flanno the guy who in 2006 leaked the Wayne Bennett signing when he was with us that led to the deal being scuttled
I’m sure Nick will welcome him with open arms

But when you change your halfback after just 6 weeks it says to me that you had a plan and in your eyes it was failing miserably. That's very early to be adjusting on the fly and coming up with a plan b.
I'm not sure when that ever turns out to be successful.
The talent is clearly there. Its the best roster in the NRL. Which makes our outrageous lack of cohesion all the more frustrating. Manu is playing like the biggest and best player in U10s out there. And the errors are just relentless .
Imo Robbo clearly doesn't know what his best team is which is hugely concerning even at this stage. Every other contender knows who they are.
Souffs could execute their plays in their sleep. The Storm continue to be a well oiled machine who pummeled us. Penrith will be just fine. They'll all be there where as we are an enigma. It might all come together beautifully come finals but its hard to have faith in that happening when the coach doesn't have faith in his plan A achieving our goals.
pretty sure robbo sees walker playing first grade sometime soon. robbo sacrificed time with his family to watch sammy play reserves so clearly he's in his corner and sees this period as part of his development to make him the leading half he can be.
we've been underperforming but form is temporary, class is permanent. we have a classy team. for me the biggest question mark over the team was right wing but jaxson paulo has really stepped up.
too far out to say that we're going to win the comp but we're very much in the mix.

Stating the obvious here but there is only 2 things that are going to happen with Sam & that is he gets back into FG & is a Rooster for a long time or he doesn’t get back into FG & he returns to Brisbane & plays for the Broncos or the Dolphins but to tell you the truth the Dolphins have a top halfback in O’Sullivan.
I just hope he’s not the next Brody Croft.

It took the Tigpies nine seasons (185 games) to drop Luke Brooks to reserve grade. History suggests he might’ve benefited from a stint in the lower grades to finesse his game.
Sam will find the speed of play, particularly the defensive line, in reserve grade more suitable to unlock his potential. He’ll be back

he needs more space and unless he is passing the ball to someone with tackle busting ability out side of him I'd rather see him dummy and go himself .
you wont ever hear anyone say Manu needs to get Hutch some clean early ball, no no no just tuck it under your wing Joey and pin the ears back son.
The balance of the team requires Joey at centre, we just dont have the ouside backs atm to waste Joey at 6.
This is just my opinion ...
Im not a coach and im not trying to be one.
I still like Robbo and i dont even mind Hutch.
