Sam Walker is committed to Sydney Roosters despite being dropped
If he was really having lunch with Bennett then it's hard to see him staying.
Hope the club has plans on his replacement.
You’re probably right, but it isn’t a foregone conclusion (yet). I mean, Bennett hasn’t been terribly successful at attracting big names to the Dolphins to date despite many, many similar meetings with marquee players. Walker may have only gone along out of respect and/or to keep someone in his circle happy, especially given the Walker family’s prior connections with Bennett.
According to Fletch last night on the Matty Johns show, he won’t leave, he’ll be back in first grade in a couple of weeks and it is just what Robbo does to young players (eg, Latrell, Manu). I hope Fletch is right, but his opinion and others like it are being totally drowned out by the incessant doomsday media noise. It’s hard not to listen to it.
One thing’s for sure. If we let Walker go there’s a replacement lined up.
Who? I think Robbo would probably just stick with Manu and Keary if Walker leaves. The only halves off contract for 2024 are as follows:
Adam Clune, Jack Cogger, Jack Johns, Jaeman Salmon, Jayden Nikorima, Josh Reynolds, Kurt Mann (Although more of a utility), Kyle Flanagan, Luke Brooks, Matt Frawley and Shaun Johnson.
Most are back up halves, the only one I would take is Luke Brooks simply because I think he'd do really well with new scenery and a good team but even then I'd much prefer Walker...

All of these guys are rubbish. Johnson was pretty good earlier in his career, but that was a long time ago. Walker is better than all of these clowns. In my opinion, there’s only a handful of excellent true halfbacks in the comp that are performing better than Walker; Cleary, DCE, A Reynolds, Hunt & Hughes. The only one of this group that would be a chance of coming to the Chooks is Hunt, but he’s 35 next year. I’d love for us to stick with Walker and have him play out his career with us.
Out of left field but if we are Walkerless moving forward, any crafty poms capable?
Le Robbo might be looking at a Frenchman. Arthur Mourgue is a 24 year old half/fullback that is off contract with Catalans this year and he is a real attacking weapon. Only a little bloke but he goes pretty well.
