  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Cowboys

Time to keep building in preparation for Friday night. High completions and good defence. Cowboys were massive over achievers last season. Let’s nail another peg in their coffin. No JT or Nana. We should beat them easily as long as we don’t play Roosters footy.

    GO ROOSTERS!

These games worry me. The ones we ‘should’ win, more often than not lately are the ones we don’t. I’m confident with this one anyway. My biggest concern is the track. Second last game of the weekend could pose all sorts of problems.

Who are their big guns this year?

I see Dearden, McLean, Hess, Cotter, Granville, Holmes, Drinkwater, Feldt...etc.

Looks like a relatively mobile team and my fear with such teams is that they often have their game of the season against us. Also it's in QLD so I'd say there'd be more Cowboys fans there.

That said, IMO we have way more talent in our forwards (where basically nobody's out if one considers that Brown's simply not ready for 1st grade yet and Watson's a utility).

Not expecting a classy win but (respectfully) I reckon JWH, Collins, Cheese, Rads, Lodge, Sitili, Crichton and the Butcher Brothers should be able to do a job on their forwards (which are weaker than previous Cowboys squads IMO). Do that and they're suddenly relying on Val Holmes & Tommy Dearden to razzle dazzle us. That or lying down for penalties. I'd much prefer to bank on our full-strength forward pack getting the job done slowly but steadily...

The Rooster turned a corner with a defensive effort premierships are built off last week.
Another step in the right direction would be nice to see today .
        Go the Roosters

If we get drew out of Centres I would be confident we have the size, speed and skill across the park to handle them. Even if he is there, we should be able to manage.

I'm worried they will attack down our corridors of JS and Hutch. We seem to be uneasy defending there and like we dont know each other.

Win the ruck, win the game. If we can’t win the ruck with our pack, we don’t deserve to win.

Telegraph suggesting we'll have two B.Smith's playing today.

Only problem is that when we have one good win our blokes think they just have to run out to win the next one, especially against a lower placed team.
Cowgirls got flogged last week by Sharks, Sharks came out and turned their toes up against the Dolphins, because they took them too easy.
We have done nothing so far this year to make us certainties in any game.
Top sides like Souffs and Drongos and Cronulla last week are doing a number on opponents, time we did something similar.

I’m not feeling confident about this tragic round game due to officialdom and the powers that be who want a clean sweep by QLD teams. It’s farcical that the Broncos were given an away game this weekend.

I know, that's hilarious - what is this - our 3rd home game in a row at "magic round"?

I want to see this place explode when Holmes tears Hutch a new one. In the words of Ronaldo:

i will love it and i think i deserve.
