I haven't watched a full none Roosters game all year. Just snippets here and there.

I used to watch 6-8 games a week.

But now it's unwatchable. Even Roosters games are insufferable with the relentless whistle blowing and sin bins.

Obviously I watch the game differently.
I reckon the games great & I hardly notice the refs.
If the Chooks win tonight Im sure most of you will be happy & Vlandys, Abdo & the refs will hardy be mentioned.

I agree the game has gone to shit Too
much referee involvement Last night was not really a good advertisement for the game

26 penalties and 4 sin bins and you hardly noticed the refs...

Mickie I envy your ability to tune that shit out.

That made absolutely no sense to me. Did I miss something? The hooker scoots over in the space that first marker would’ve occupied if Flegler didn’t grab him. I would’ve been absolutely furious if that happened in a roosters game. That was terrible from the bunker.

Also, what about Coates no try at the end? That was another horrendous officiating blunder. Surely the refs know better and let it unfold so the bunker can check it.

You have a gift sir. I don’t know how you can have the blinkers on that much. The ref impact on the game atm is more than ever and I have stopped watching because of it. Watching highlights here in there are much less painful.

Of the last 5 decades this has to be the worst era of NRL. I love watching old games on youtube from 90s, when a player was built for a specific position, wingers looked like Hancock or Wishart, fullbacks were tall and rangey like mullins and hoff, centres had footwork and silky flicks, halves were super skilful, and could do it all chip n chase, throw bullet cut outs, step and played off the cuff, hookers were little nuggety pricks that were defensive machines, everyone brought a unique skillset to that position, now every player looks the same, plays the same, forwards can play in the backline, fullbacks can play in the middle, and style of attack is generic and overly structured. Not to mention you can't even have villains that opposition fans boo now because its apparently racist and robbo gets triggered.

                  Pretty accurate

I have a mate that works for PSM , Pacific Sports Management in Western Sydney. Talking recently about the kids he signs he looks for 2 things no matter what position, Size and Speed. Literally doesn't care if theyre skilful but small, he wont look at them. If they progress he said they will be picked up at a later stage but initially only Size and Speed will get you signed

                      Totally unwatchable.

The NRL is the worst it's ever been. The players now take a back seat....

This is relevant to the Roosters because we all remember what happened to us at Penrith last year and MY GOD I'm expecting the same.

This should be a blockbuster contest but instead strap yourselves in for a ref-fest.

NEVER in all my time has the product been so on the nose.

Congrats Vlandys and Andrew Dildo or whatever his name is. You've be killed the game.
Switched off at half time even though it was a tight score line then.

I miss real scrums where the skill of the hooker at winning the ball was critical to the outcome of games. I was one of those little nuggety pricks and have the head to prove it.

They will leave their mark no matter what the result. Let’s just hope their mark isn’t directly responsible in deciding the outcome.

It’s not a gift. It’s a huge wooden spoon for stirring things up.

The NRL has basically become a semi-scripted entertainment instead of a true sport.

at the end of last night’s game I felt entertained, as I do after a lot of games… but I also felt like I did not just witness an actual competition in which we found the best team on the day. Again just like I do after most games.

all the rules, interpretations, and other shit they introduce every 6 months has a huge effect on the outcome of each game. The massive increase in sin bins is the new way for game management.

it’s basically become WWE. We know management controls the outcome, but the fights are fun to watch anyway. For the casual fans at least.

problem is the ratings and attendances don’t seem to be dipping so obviously this semi-scripted crap is what the fans want

WWE clone? Very true and appropriate comparison. The absolute main goal of any professional sports body/company is to make as much money as possible. Whenever a spokesperson expresses their desire to grow the game they are effectively really saying that they want turnover to increase. Nothing more, nothing less.

The league fans are also similar to the majority of WWE fans, in that they have been conditioned to believe that the game is a fair contest between two opponents. It is not. It is though very easy to find simple minded and brain-washed fans that are willing to stand and die on that hill, proclaiming that money doesn't have the power to corrupt.

In the current state of the game, with the tidal wave of inconsistency in rulings, it is near impossible to claim that this abundance of errors is simply human error. We all celebrate people/groups that abandon the road of gold, due to their principles. The reason that we do celebrate them is because they are in the massive minority. If there is a dollar to chase, the majority will always bend the rules for a few bob more.
