Ryles has got nothing, when he played they used to say Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane, about him.
Our next coach needs to be brand new, someone who has never had anything to do with the Roosters,
We need a clean slate, and a young coach.
Slater would be my choice, he's a winner, played hard, no great athlete, but a bloody hard worker.

Commander Robinson : I say chaps over the top tallyho.

Troops : We're short of ammunition, we're not well trained and we appear to be stuck in the mud.

Commander Robinson : Trust in me.

Kristian Woolf did great things with St Helens and Tonga. I don't believe we need a rebuild - this is a very talented squad.

I dunno why Robbo persists with playing players out of position.

I admire your optimism but your opinion is no greater than anybody else's who supports this club.

We can only judge the team on past & current performances & the last 2-3yrs it's clear to see Robbo is in decline & has been overtaken by others with new/fresh ideas on the game.

it appears Robbo hasn't evolved with the rule changes. You cant possibly blame the players on this outright with the squad we have. We aren't the Tigers, Dragons or Knights.

Everything has an expiry date. 11yrs at one sporting organisation is a long time. An injection of new ideas & face's is required.

Change hurts sometimes but is for the better.

It will be a monumental effort if Robbo can change this situation we're in & make us a premiership threat again this year but I just can't see it.

I read into Robbos words of the coach taking ownership as taking the heat off the players. The previous weeks media also played apart in their losing their focus. For me the big concern for the team is not only the loss of form of the 'stars' teddy kear manu and suallili , the weakness of players such as Allen and Paulo, who have zero pace. Teddy previously has been running around going nowhere, last night barely bothered to run both Joey's beat no one and Keary is stuck in the mud most of the time. Yes Walker back and Suaallili back too the wing may help slightly but the loss of form of the big 4 is the big worry. Maybe their best is in the past already. Marriages of Teddy, Manu can take away the major importance of league in their life too.

all piss and wind. fans can't go out onto the field and turn it around so when there are a few losses it's tempting to go online and vent. fair enough, but it's all piss and wind. there is no way robbo gets punted mid season so what's wrong with giving him the benefit of the doubt which he has earned. unless the season goes totally pear shaped there's no chance he gets punted at the end of this season either so hold your breath. bellamy's not coming, bennett's not coming - robbo's the coach and like the song goes if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with

                    Good post.

But I gotta admit I thought easts were no chance last night and backed the panthers at 1.50 which was big overs. Same with NQ last week at 4.25.

them's good odds. no doubt we didn't play well last night but panthers at penrith on a five day turn around was always going to be tough. if we can jag a win this week, lick our wounds over the bye and get some players back every chance we steady the ship. i\
it's not about winning the comp atm it's about playing as well as we can

Because he has been given the benefit of the doubt for our last 3 losing seasons and this one doesn't look to be all that much better:

2020: Out in straight sets to Penrith and Canberra (The betting agencies predicted us to win the comp)

2021: Snuck a victory over the Gold Coast Titans who we were expected to pump. Proceeded to get pumped 42-6 by Manly in the semi finals (The betting agencies predicted us to go to the prelims)

2022: Bundled out by Souths in the first week of the finals in an awful game where the Roosters players seemed to want to fight and niggle more than actually play (Betting agencies predicted us as one of the favourites)

2023: Just a prediction but I think we'll get into the 8 and fall in week 1 or 2. We are not going to be able to challenge the likes of Penrith, Souths, Melbourne, Broncos or Sharks without major changes occurring. For comparison sake the betting agencies predicted us to finish second for this season with only Penrith having better odds.

                        ---

I do agree with you that he should have until the end of 2023 to turn things around but if it means losing a coach with potential such as Ryles then it'd be a tougher decision to make. We're the Roosters, the club, players and of course the fans should not have to accept 3-4 years of lazy sub par performances because Robbo has "earned" benefit of the doubt.

yeah, it's a given that robbo will be our coach for the rest of the year. as much as it hurts to lose atm and fans want to vent, if the team turns it around then we'll all be happy.

robbo's performance over the last 5 years has been stellar but even if you just take the last 3 i'd give him a pass mark at least -

2020 finished top 4, lost by a point to the minor premiers and then a disappointing, bad loss to canberra. in isolation the season's end is a big disappointment but on the back of winning b2b it's worth a pass. as hard as it was to win b2b to then go on and win b2b2b is unchartered territory. let's see how penrith go come finals time this year.

2021 i wasn't aware that the bookies predicted us to beat manly in that semi but it would have been cos they were used to the team punching above its weight. given the injuries we had robbo could easily have won dally m coach of the year.

2022 disappointing start to the year but the team was firing at the business end and if not for injuries to teddy, manu, toops etc would have gone better. even if we'd made the top 4 and lost to souths in a home semi would we have won the next week with that injury toll? yes, it was a bad start but without the injuries to 2 of the best players in the world it's hard to win a comp

Fully agree he shouldn't get punted mid season. It would be disrespectful to do that to him considering what he's previously achieved.

                            When's his contract up anyway?

Atm we stink so bad with how we're playing. I cant see how this can be corrected in the short term especially now with injuries to key players.

But even the Tigers & Dragons aren't playing this bad & are having close losses instead of blow outs & are scoring tries.

No way should Robbo get punted this year...it isn't the Rooster Way - and more importantly there's no-one on the horizon that we could consider. Webster at The Warriors has surprised me...impressed me even! He coaches well, is liked and supported by the players and has certainly changed their culture. Christian Woolf could do well at the Dolphins too...they seem to be setting up similarly to the Rabbitohs with the Bennett / Demetriou transition.

What about Wayne? Genius coach and we almost had him once! There's no-one else around at the moment. Keep wobbly Wobbo for this year and next and then go all out for Wayne.
