And…..you can quote me on this,I don’t think he will ever be an effective coach of a below par team because he doesn’t have enough hate in him.

He is a bloody good coach but has never had to coach a crap team. EVER!
Thought you'd be impressed by my memory.
The Roosters don't field "crap" teams anymore, but some are a lot less impressive than others. The team we're fielding this season is extremely over-rated.

I remember our debates from back then, and as I recall you questioned Robbos ability to get new players like Cronk and Teddy to gel with the team. The back to back comps put that to bed.
Ignorance is certainly bliss for some

The irony was that I backed us to win at the start of the year when we won the comp and wrote threads about it so I must have had faith in Trent.
Great coach of good players. The rest of his abilities are clearly up for debatebarbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

Perhaps Gibson was right about coaches. With the exception of Bellamy, most coaches get stale at the one club for too long.Exonerate the West Memphis Three - www.wm3.org

why?
Because he has always coached teams that were brimming with rep players and talent.
It’s not that he wasn’t effective……but one year we had injuries and we finished at the tail and there other years that we probably underperformed slightly with the incredible squad that we had.
Two premiership wins in a row and quite rightly I back-pedalled on some of those statements.
I still had my reservations but a couple of things were apparent about Trent
1. He is an amazing communicator
2. He coaches people not just players.
3. He handles Nick Politis exceptionally well.
4. He knew how to get the best out of a team of superstars.
Now we are faced over the last few years with a team that has maybe 4 great players, a few highly rated developed players that haven’t really kicked on and delivered like we would have liked, and a few aging ex superstars who are past there use by date namely JWH and Tupou
A coach is going to earn his keep with that squad.
Sadly, this year Robbo hasn’t and he won’t.
There are just too many deficiencies in the blend of the squad and we are nowhere near contenders.
It’s a rebuild…..cut the dead wood and don’t resign them.
On a side note, I think Egan Butcher has been someone we can claim as a true clubman. I like the way he plays. Conversely,
I watched Suali play a couple of matches live and he is hesitating at the point of contact since he signed that contract. You can’t have guys who are holding back playing in your team. It’s cancerous.

Jack stayed about 3 years then acknowledged its time to move on. Maybe the game is a little different now but the Bellamys and Bennetts of this world are a very rare breed.
Robbo is an incredibly smart man and the culture he has built at our club is unprecedented. We owe him that bigtime.Legend. Stay around please just not as Head Coach.
The coaching message and operations have a shelf life. And the signs are pretty obvious in our performances post 2019.
We just look in need of a fresh start in the way we prepare and train, and how the players react to the Coaches message.
The rule changes and interpretations have hurt us bigtime too in the last few years. We've adjusted worse than most.#We Stand with ourJewish community#

Robbo lucked out by having Cordner/Friend Not being able to extend their careers & finish up as they/us all wanted.
Imagine Cordner/Friend getting to play at peak level like Smith/Slater did until well into their 30s, as opposed to being done in by injuries years too early.
Cordner/Friend built the attitude, resilience, toughness at the club & its something we have seriously lacked since & looks like remaining the way for years to come.Butcher/Baker are young so not ready or far enough into their careers for that role. Angus doesn't appear to be a leader & his off-season showed that. Sitilli isnt a natural leadser either.
Smith is following after Friend, but honestly hes a man child thats never going to be a leader.
Radley should/could be that role model, strong leader, but like Smith he's immature & unfortunately he's pushing himself out of the game.
We lack a strong leader & I think Teddys never been, or will be that type of leader as it doesn't appear to be his style & when things aren't going our way he prefers to overlay his hand as opposed to slowing things down & grinding a game out.
I honestly can't see a leader at our club thats even half a leader Cordner/Friend were.
But back onto coaches & stints I do believe you can go to long or not be able to get your message across anymore. This isnt just coaching, it happens in all walks of like from our normal work, to being managers & CEO's which is why so many people change jobs or keep moving positions.

My opinion sways on whether we have adjusted to the new rules post 2019. Generally, I think we haven’t as the 6a doesn’t suit the defensive style of footy we won our premierships with. They are also trying to limit the numbers in tackles with the crackdown on tackling techniques again trying to make the game faster. On the other hand we seemed to be adjusting in the late season run last year while the Riff are seem to be able to win games in the new regime through their ‘systems’ which includes regimented rushing defensive structures. Maybe the players are jaded from the World Cup. Some of our key players such as Angus and Sitili have yet to reach match fitness, while Toups is out and JWH and B Smith seem to be always injured. Rads is a a shell of his former self because the NRL are pretty much trying to drive him out of the game. Kez has lost pace since the ACL. There’s so many things which when combined adds up to the mess we have.

Some of our fans are a spoilt lot.
We've been the most successful club over the past decade in terms of premierships.
I'm a huge fan of Robbo as a human and a coach. It's the same old story with some people - some say Robbo can't take credit for the premierships because it was all the players. Now we're going through a rough patch, it's all on Robbo who now apparently can't coach.
Anyone who can read people well known it's obvious there is some sort of split in the playing group and/or certain bad eggs causing discontent and conflict.
OUtside of Benner, you wouldn't want anyone other than Robbo as the person tasked with resolving that.
