  • Sam Walker in SMH: I’m not going anywhere

Sam has come out again saying he’s not going anywhere and will be staying at the Roosters to fight for his place in first grade. Says that it must have been “some other white scrawny kid meeting with Wayne, because it certainly wasn’t me, that was rubbish”.

Also says he picked up an ACL strain in the same tackle that sent him off for a HIA in the NSW Cup game against the Warriors. Should be back after the bye.

Some of the other ‘leaders’ in our team should read that and take note. Walker talking about wanting to come back bigger and better than before is a testament to him and his attitude, considering he was one of the least out of form players in our 17. If I was him, I’d have left the club as soon as Trent Guru Robbo made him the scapegoat

I almost feel like Handbreak and Walker are a better combination due to Handbreaks long kicking game. Allows Walker some freedom and to play off the cuff.

That was simply awful. He wasn’t playing his best but he wasn’t the worst either, nor the reason for our shit form as a unit. I reckon we have gone worse without him and I am certain a lot of that has to do with morale that Robbos decision and selections have affected.

I'd say he'll be back in first grade pretty soon. The coach has no choice.

Very mature approach from Sammy. Future captain

C’mon people he’s contracted to us. Would he honestly say anything different. May well be true but if it wasn’t he wouldn’t say otherwise.

Good to hear. But how do you strain an ACL? I’ve never heard that one before and it is a worry.

sammy's been with us for a while and no doubt there's a lot of trust between him and the club. scene is set for him to have a big say on how far we go this season

Robbo may have underestimated Sam's popularity amongst his team mates. Players will do their best to a point when they don't agree with (in this instance) Robbo's changes and weakening 4 positions. They eventually give up on the effort plays and go through the motions.

Yeah i hope it's true but that changes if Dolphins or Broncs come in with a big offer and he can go home instead of being made a scapegoat by us.

I still want Sammy to play firsts with us for near on 15 years and hopefully win plenty of Premierships. Just go and get him the right 6 !!!

It's the term for a minor tear of the ligament, basically if it was grand final week he'd be playing. Ofcourse he hasn't seen the specialist yet so the scans showing a minor tear may not be accurate but that's the diagnosis for now - fingers crossed that's all it is as with rest it will heal up in a couple of weeks and he'll be back in full contact training during the bye week.

I know Sammy has his deficiencies but gee we’ve missed his creativity in attack

Even though we weren’t setting the world on fire early in the season he’s the type of player who can create opportunities and I feel we’ve been missing that since he was dropped..

Hopefully it’s not just a wake up call for him,but also the Coach!
