Completely left field..
but is our issue that we’re trying to become some what of a ‘Gentleman’s Club’ (for lack of better words).
we seen it with the whole ‘we don’t take dives, we play with integrity’ and I don’t condone diving. It’s an embarrassment on the game.. but as we have seen, it’s in the game, it’s not being officiated differently, we just play but what we perceive as the rules.
I for one was proud to see Jared react the way he did again the Cows when he caught one flush and it went ‘un-noticed’
we again saw victor receive similar last night that was not even reviewed although he reacted in a way in which warranted it to be.
apart from that - we also saw the bizarre introduction of ‘The Handshake’ when scoring.. let’s all be honest.. wtf?
I’d much rather see our boys carrying on like the panthers every time they scored. It shows they’re bloody pumped and if anything, it’s just reward for pulling of what they have trained all week, all season.
then there’s the sin bins and suspensions….
Now, I will admit we do seem to be treated differently in this regard. But to go all PR and tidy up our act? Fark that, we have some of the game’s absolute animals in our team and I want to see them play that way. (Although not intentionally take out players)
I want to see the likes of Jared, Lodge, Collins, Radley etc throwing themselves at opposition packs and teams cause until we get back to doing so. We will not be feared in a way we once were.
Other teams know we have put our weapons away, or silenced them as such and no longer fear taking us on. As seen by teams dominating us up the middle this season.
let’s cut the polished crap and get back to doing what we should be doing. Play some damn high energy footy.
most people brand the panthers style as arrogant, but I’ll be damned if I were to admit I wouldn’t mind that being said about our boys so long as the results reflected for us the way they do for the panthers and look back to the best defensive season to date - 2013, that was our blue print. High intensity defensively that was somewhat of our badge of honour and not to be taken lightly with the dominating attack the followed ball in hand. Same blue print Penrith have seem to adopted the past few season.
that is the only “Roosters style of footy” that I will accept when referring to that term. None of this piss weak ‘Gentleman’s Club’ style. Save the suits and that image for the office. There is no place for that view on field.
(Strictly my opinion)
