  • ‘Gentleman’s Club,

    Completely left field..

but is our issue that we’re trying to become some what of a ‘Gentleman’s Club’ (for lack of better words).

we seen it with the whole ‘we don’t take dives, we play with integrity’ and I don’t condone diving. It’s an embarrassment on the game.. but as we have seen, it’s in the game, it’s not being officiated differently, we just play but what we perceive as the rules.

I for one was proud to see Jared react the way he did again the Cows when he caught one flush and it went ‘un-noticed’

we again saw victor receive similar last night that was not even reviewed although he reacted in a way in which warranted it to be.

apart from that - we also saw the bizarre introduction of ‘The Handshake’ when scoring.. let’s all be honest.. wtf?

I’d much rather see our boys carrying on like the panthers every time they scored. It shows they’re bloody pumped and if anything, it’s just reward for pulling of what they have trained all week, all season.

then there’s the sin bins and suspensions….

Now, I will admit we do seem to be treated differently in this regard. But to go all PR and tidy up our act? Fark that, we have some of the game’s absolute animals in our team and I want to see them play that way. (Although not intentionally take out players)

I want to see the likes of Jared, Lodge, Collins, Radley etc throwing themselves at opposition packs and teams cause until we get back to doing so. We will not be feared in a way we once were.

Other teams know we have put our weapons away, or silenced them as such and no longer fear taking us on. As seen by teams dominating us up the middle this season.

let’s cut the polished crap and get back to doing what we should be doing. Play some damn high energy footy.

most people brand the panthers style as arrogant, but I’ll be damned if I were to admit I wouldn’t mind that being said about our boys so long as the results reflected for us the way they do for the panthers and look back to the best defensive season to date - 2013, that was our blue print. High intensity defensively that was somewhat of our badge of honour and not to be taken lightly with the dominating attack the followed ball in hand. Same blue print Penrith have seem to adopted the past few season.

that is the only “Roosters style of footy” that I will accept when referring to that term. None of this piss weak ‘Gentleman’s Club’ style. Save the suits and that image for the office. There is no place for that view on field.

    (Strictly my opinion)

Roosters style.......it's like a cult. I am sure opposition coach's and players would laugh at this crap.
Gould said it this morning, like many on here, we have been playing the same way for a long time. The coach is not evolving. Can't score, no experienced 5/8 demanding back rowers run on to the ball hard and fast etc etc.
    Way of the pace.

I love the notion that we don't lay down. It's worth much more than getting the occasional penalty. Leave the laying down to the classless brainless others

Gould straight at Robbo, nice if Robbo fires something back at him, smacking his bulldogs would be nice.

Watching tino lay down today was embarrassing. Although I do get the "if you can't beat em join them" mentality.

Teddy got hit high a couple of games back, got on with it and we scored next play.

It's definitely one of those pick your moments type thing, I've said for a long time we are the last team they'd oblige if we played for penalties.

We are not parra, warriors or storm. The worst 3 imo. And tino lol

Agree. But don't forget, they beat us last year to break their long losing streak.

When I read the title I got all excited and thought it was a Chookpen group excursion to The Men’s Gallery. Bugger.

Apologies, I thought the title may be a little misleading to some (Or most)

He’s right, there’s normally one very easy way of telling when we are on and playing well and that’s our support play. We have players pushing up around the ball bouncing off each other or running lines keeping the defence honest but I haven’t seen any of that pretty much all year. When we’ve had players looking to offload or if a player pokes their nose through the gap there’s no one around pushing up and to me that speaks attitude.

I am sure one of Penrith’s tries unfolded with a linebreak through our middle with Victor being guilty of WALKING towards the player with the ball and not closing the hole.. anyone remember when Latrell did that back in 2017 against manly at Allianz in the dying stages? I am sure he got dropped for that the very next game. Will robbo drop Victor? Pfffft

from memory they discussed whether they should lay down for penalties in the early years of robbo's tenure and the team decided that they didn't want to. there are arguments both ways and i don't feel strongly one way or the other.

The handshake is a stretch. Was that Magic round in 2019?

Thought it was a bit of fun, something the squad could do with a little more with.

Won’t be many handshakes at present then, at this rate we can barely even get a wave let alone a high 5…

All the bro-hugging nonsense in the dressings rooms and after games is ridiculous.
...as is a/more than one 110kg player coming in after a player scores a try and jumping on his head/shoulders.

Handshakes or pats on the back are great alternatives.
In the dressing room, what about just a huddle, then run out.

                          Bro-hugging looks ridiculous.

Opposition players give you rag dolling, face massages, forearm jolts to the head all game, then after the game you have to hug them like you love them.
                          Baaah!
I wouldn't be doing it, I'd always be having a headache or cramp and be lying on the ground until all the bro hugging was over.
