If true does it really matter as we couldn’t play any worse defensively? Hopefully we can get someone urgently who can put the Bondi back in our wall.

In saying that I fully expect a Morris or Cordner to get elevated like Matt King has in the past
this is the best shout in the entire thread

I love all these guys, roosters men through & through BUT I’d like to see someone else experienced in the coaching game that will challenge Robbo.. preferably not the next assistant looking for a head coaching gig. Surely there are plenty out there who are happy with being an assistant..
B-Moz knows how to score tries. Happy to give him a crack...

            Hopefully its Jake Friend.

I reckon Ryles will last less than 2 years as a first grade coach. The rest of the year will be poor, he will be under serious pressure early next season and gone by the end of it.

                  Welcome to coaching, Jake Friend.
A fine job he will do, I truly believe.

I don't like the idea of giving old boys coaching jobs just because they are available.
Surely coaches have to LEARN their trade.
Many great players are not great teachers.
Don't expect respect just because you played a lot of games for the club.
I don't see Friend or Cordner as great communicators so i don't expect either of them to be good coaches.

Well said and very hard to disagree with. The cronyism rampant in post professional sport creates an ugly old boys club. The same applies to commentary. For some reason it is a given that if you were a good footballer you are also an outstanding comedian and broadcasting host. Coaches of professional sports teams should be professional coaches.

                        Completely disagree

Jake Friend was the cornerstone of the Bondi Wall not only does he know the system he lived and breathed it.

If anyone can install the values of our defensive system it is him.

He's been around the club for a long time and players will trust him more than any outsider

Agree, most coaches have played Rugby League before so I don’t know what the problem is. Cleary, Bellamy, Stuart, Bennett, Sheens, Fitzy, Walters, Payten etc. Even Robbo played.

                            Agree.

Hopefully he'll start with the basics.
How to play the ball properly.
How and when to pass the ball.
How to catch a good pass without dropping it.
How to jump for a bomb and catch the ball.

Great, I will send in my resume, I've got over 30 years coaching experience so surely I'm a better bet for the job then these ex NRL superstars

Can’t wait for the first forward pass out of dummy half so this place can blow up at Jake again!
