  • Why Lodge hasn’t re-signed

I spoke to my friend within the Roosters yesterday.
He informed me that Lodge was offered another one year deal, but Lodges’ manager Moses, (whom Politis now hates even more after helping him get re-accredited and then propelled Sualli to Rugby ) wants a three year deal

Politis pulled the one year offer ..

It’s a shame as Lodge really wants to stay.. but I guess I one year deal means the Roosters have doubts regardless

I suppose there are two things here. One Lodge needs to think about his future and obviously 3 years is better than one. The other point is he doesnot have to listen to the little 6 per centers all the time. Ie man up and do what you want to do not what you are told to do.

Probably only a year cause of JWH, Moses sounds like pond scum

What is the problem with 3 years?
Do we have some up and comer I dont know about?

We have lost Fletcher and JWH.

Surely Collins, Leniu and Lodge would work?

Is Moses an Easts fan? I see a dude with the same name posting on FB who's pretty passionate. Not sure if I buy the story that Nick hates him (though he probably hates all agents).

I think you can start a FB profile with any name, doesn't have to be your own, so I wouldn't place much weight on that and I think the number of times that Moses has reportedly used the chooks as a bargaining tool for his clients would be enough to cause some angst with Nick. Especially if they have reneged on deals verbally agreed to. I'm only going on what is reported in the media, so take that with a grain of salt.

Broncos and Warriors both offloaded him before end of contract.

Contract length was always going to be the sticking point.

In last week's loss he was always looking to offload. The massive frame and the often awkward but effective passes reminded me of Beetson.

But other clubs have let him go. Perhaps, apart from the Warriors, it was about money as well.

Allegedly, if you can believe the media, Lodge can be a prickly and divisive personality. Also, I think Nick had issues with Moses prior to the Suaalii defection. I think it may have been over Mitch Moses, where he agreed to terms and then backflipped?

Similar rumblings ... I've heard that Moses mentioned to Politis (not directly as there is no eye-to-eye with them but through their channels) that Manly was interested in offering Lodge a lengthy contract as comparison (plenty of player clients that Moses manages play/work for Manly i.e. Anthony Seibold and others and that was one of the main reasons that there has been hesitation to re-sign Lodge. As mentioned by others, the Suaalii going to Rugby Australia was also something that irked the big honcho but not that he was going there but that the deal was already brokered a long time ago behind the Roosters' back.

Politis doesn’t want any players managed by Moses at the club.

JS will be the last of them in 24

People posted on here that he was wanting 800k per season or something in that vicinity which is over the top - Lodge has mobility problems in D and in keeping up with the pace of the modern game

If you compare Lodge with say Hass - same weight and similar heights it's chalk and cheese as far as that goes

                          Lodge - 191 cm - 117 kgs - 27 - 28 end of May

                          Haas - 194 cm - 117 kgs - 23 - 24 early December

JWH and Lodge shouldn't be on the field at the same time as teams certainly target the middle when both are on the field.- one starts and the other comes off the bench would be the best option going forward

Haas is a lean and athletic build with speed/footwork to match his weight. I dare say that most of his 117kg frame is majority muscle (Polynesian genetics).

Lodge is a Dad bod with the build of a part-time bouncer/secci at The Mean Fiddler. He's carrying much more body-fat and is probably a body that was suited before this faster 6 again style of the game we see today.

Different levels of athleticism between both of them.

There are very few forwards worth 800k and he's not one of them, maybe the one year deal is because we are looking at a complete rebuild in 24-25
