  • Maloney the Saviour???

Am I the only one on here who is not overly excited about Maloney coming here next year. Yes he is a good player but not the saviour many on here think he will be.

Lets face it we don't have any outstanding players. We will struggle to have any origin reps this year. Gone are the days when we had Fittler, Fitzy, Wing and co constantly in the origin and test teams. We havent had them for a few years now.

Maloney will be okay, but he is no saviour..

He's got more attack in him than Bwaiff but his defence is very suspect..

We've got no real stars this year, but we've got young blokes who need time to mature in to their roles..

This years going to be one hell of a rollercoaster..

With every one of these impotent beatings we get, players with the ability of $BW get more & more attractive..

I happen to agree with you Dolphin. I too remain unconvinced that Maloney will make much of a difference at this place. Sure, he is a relatively above average player in the halves, but he isn't particularly flashy or spectacular.

Maloney is the typical player that Brian Smith signs up, and has done so at previous clubs. He is a like a Jason Taylor, a Noel Goldthorpe, or a Michael Buettner.

A player who "has all the skills" - that is, he can pass, run and kick. Whether he does so especially well, is another matter entirely. The Warriors made the GF last year thanks to the brilliance of Shaun Johnson and other outside backs... Maloney was just a supporting player.

It seems that the days we signed up high quality star players, is well and truly over... the youth policy has been in place since 2005 and we have only made the finals 28% of the time in all of those seasons... and at the end of this year that stat will drop down to around 25%...

In fact, sometimes I wonder if our Board's heart is truly in it to win it anymore... I'm certainly not convinced the management team at the club offers much, from the CEO down.

Bullshit without Maloney last year they make it no where near the GF, he was the main organiser and most of the set plays involved around him, players like Shaun Johnson were just a supporting player.

Johnsons over-rated, Maloney is the Warriors real halfback.

I'm not sure people are seeing Maloney as the messiah.

He is not much more than a good first grader. We are short in that department so he is a welcome addition.

SBW and a good winger and maybe Moga. If anyone On this thread tells me that we have to retain our younger future stars instead of buying with the state of team we have i will go on a killing spree. Cordner, Taka, Guerra, JWH have been resigned unless your talking about Carney, BJ, Mitchell or Arona your probably smoking weed

Unless people are willing to put up with smackings like 50-12 until youngsters make there mark, then SBW is must.

I believe we need a quality dummy half full stop.
