maloney is no saviour but he will do a pretty good job imo. my main concern is his defence ironically enough. yes he is not in the team for his defence but he isnt in the thurston or marshall mold where he will always score/create more tries than he concedes. a 5/8 like him needs to have a strong all round game including defence because he isnt in the marshall mold. i see him sitting somewhere between soward and foran. the soward speed, kicking, spark and speed but with more powerful running like foran. if he could improve his defence he will be very good for us but definitely not a saviour. the thing is though that we dont need 'a' saviour. our team can be just as effective with a team of contributors not just a big money spine and that is exactly what he has been signed to do. he isnt on anasta/marshall/cronk or even pearce money but with moga, SKD, maubs, pearce, RTS and co around him, we will have plenty of strike power
