    Congratulations young roosters…

    Australian schoolboy -
    De La Salle Va’a (NSWCCC)

    Australian schoolgirls -
    Tavarna Papali’i (QLD)
    Aliyah Nasio (NSWCHS)

Va’a was a part of a dominant NSWCCC side that went through undefeated v QLD/ CAS/ NSWCHS. The win on day one vs a very confident & much vaunted QLD pack, set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Another young rooster, on the wing for NSWCCC, was Lachlan Dooner (HM) & in the GF v NSWCHS starting at fullback was Zac Safarti (SGBall)

The girl’s competition was dominated by a very strong NSWCHS side, who also won through to their grandfinal (vs QLD).

Bad news on Tavarna and Aliyah though

Tavarna suffered both a ruptured ACL and MCL injury and Aliyah a broken humerus (upper arm) in that tournament and thus both have been ruled out for the 2023 NRLW season

Tavarna looking at a 9 to 12 months recovery period

Aliyah looking at a minimum 3 months recovery period

Will be interesting to see if any of these guys get a run in Jersey Flegg.

I really like the look of Toby Rodwell. Seems to be a very balanced runner with a good feel for where the space is on a footy field.

I know Blake Steep is highly regarded by many at the club, I haven't seen much of him though.

Blake Steep has played from the bench the past 2 Jersey Flegg Cup games after returning from his ACL.

Yeh I’ve seen he’s been on the bench last few weeks. I think it’s going to be a fun year in NSW Cup next year.

Va'a named vice-captain, as the schoolboys prepare in camp at the Gold Coast, for their upcoming game vs PNG u20s. Unfortunately they are playing Sunday... Saturday has the Pres XIII & Jillaroos vs PNG... surely the organisers could have got the schoolboys on the same night?
