  • Just watched the under 20's....

and I must say I like the look of Dane Cordner. Tough as teak and has a good old go. I think we will seehim in the top grade in the future

They are nearly as frustrating to watch as Firsts.....turn from gold to shit after a sit down at half-time, what is with that at our club!?

For what it's worth the u20's still have a reasonable chance of making the 8 if they can win 5 of the last 7 games. having a look at the draw there are deffinately 5 winable games left for them. At least it gives us something to cheer for.

The best players from what I saw today, were Ethan Lowe (that kid has a big workrate for his age), Isaac Maliota, Dane Cordner, Olireti Samuela, and of course, Luke Towers. We would have won by more if we weren't missing so many players, such as notables like Martin Kennedy, Cheyse Blair, Mose Masoe, Boyd Cordner and Ryan Williamson, as well as solid players like Boyd Strickland, Brad Murray and Sam Brunton.

Ben Jones, Tom Symonds, Sandor Earl, Jake Friend are all still eligible for U20's too.

Dylan Sharp, our captain, as well as Mark Talanoa, are going to be too old for the NYC next year, I am interested to see what happens to them.

I don't think he will play first grade next year, as Jacob Miller, Cheyse Blair, Ethan Lowe and Joseph Leilua (coming from Dragons next year) are our VERY young talent.

The only of the REALLY young kids who I think will be ready to play some first grade next year is Boyd Cordner.

yea totally agree. We are going to have a great NYC side for next year. Mine would be:
                    1. Nelson/other southafrican
                    2. Littlejohn
                    3. Blair
                    4. Du Plessis
                    5. Moeakiola
                    6. Murray
                    7. Miller
                    8. Maliota
                    9. Samuela
                    10. D.Cordner
                    11. Lowe
                    12. B.Cordner
                    13. Leilua

                    14. Brunton
                    15. Clayton
                    16. Leolahi
                    17. Tia Tia/Pelo

pretty good side imo. Brilliant forward pack, great halves pairing and plenty of size, speed and strikepower in the backs.

Dolph, both the Cordner Brothers, Boyd and Dane are class players playing well above their age !

Boyd is only 16 and is a MONSTER forward, he has plently of years of great footy.

PLayers like the cordners, towers and most of the u20's will benefit from Smith at the club next season.

Blair and Miller are both playing for Australian Schoolboys this year, Ethan Lowe played for QLD U19's.

You don't rate Anthony Gelling (centre), Tim Condon (halfback), Cyprian Ale (wing), Andrew Haines (wing), Matt Hands (half), Boyd Strickland (backrow), James Brown (backrow) or Tufuga Sa (wing)? All are still eligible next year for NYC I believe...

Dylan Sharp (backrow), Ben Murray (backrow), Sandor Earl (wing), Mark Talanoa (centre), Robbie Williams (backrow), Martin Kennedy (prop) and Luke Towers (fullback/half) are all going to be too old for U20's next year, does anyone know whether we are keeping any of these blokes (only for them to fade to obscurity at the Jets like Matt Hall, Rohan Ahern, Stanley Waqa and Tu'u Maori)?

roz and Mack, you've both forgotten about Luke Towers. Deliberate or mistake?
Oh, and why the rush to get the Cordners in to First Grade? They are boys, give them time.

nah gelling doesnt do it for me, condon is filling space, haines as a backup cant hurt like hands, strickland and brown. Sa is rubbish imo. the backline i pickd you have littlejohn who played AIS last year and was best back in the sg ball this year and is primarily a centre but played heaps of fullback in the sg ball this year so would be decent on the wing. Blair, moeakiola and du plessis pick themselves and then you are left with nelson and a few others and i think nelson is developing well and deserves his spot. All the blokes that are too old i would let go of except towers, kennedy and maybe earl in place of tuigamala. I think towers is the heir at fullback. I love sammy but i think towers will offer much more than him - playmaking ability, more speed. Kennedy is a quality propforward dont you worry about that and earl hasnt been poor in firsts so far this year but id be keeping waqa and towers ahead of earl to cover SKD, mini and pez in the back 3
