Just a note, look at Boyd Cordner's stats in the U20's in his 5 or so performances. Remember, the kid is born in 1992, so he turned 17 this year, and is playing in a comp of predominantly 19 and 20 year olds.

    ---

    Round 4 - 13 runs for 111 metres, 43 tackles for 3 missed, 0 offloads, 2 tackle breaks, 1 linebreak

    Round 5 - 13 runs for 101 metres, 25 tackles for 2 missed, 2 offloads, 3 tackle breaks

    Round 8 - 13 runs for 118 metres, 20 tackles for 2 missed, 1 offload, 3 tackle breaks, 1 linebreak assist

    Round 9 - 17 runs for 169 metres, 25 tackles for 2 missed, 1 offload, 0 tackle breaks, 1 linebreak assist + 1 try assist

    Round 10 - 14 runs for 116 metres, 27 tackles for 1 missed, 1 offload, 2 tackle breaks, 1 try + 1 linebreak

    ---

Those figures are actually better than anyone else in the NYC in the backrow, and deadset, he is one of the youngest blokes running around out there! In 5 appearances, he always made at least 100 metres, at least 13 hitups, at least 20 tackles, with relatively few errors, a couple of linebreaks, a couple of linebreak assists, a try assist and one meat pie! If this kid stays fit, fills out his already huge frame, and stays consistent, he could be as good as Tallis.

Dane's stats might not be anywhere near as good, but I think Dane has different values - he is more of a gritty sort of player in the Shack/Myles mold, with the role of coming on, smashing a few people, getting fired up and making a few hard runs, then cooling off on the bench before he comes back on. Dane has a few screws loose, but that is one hell of a good asset to have on the footy field!

Was very suprised to see him overlooked for NSW Under 18 honours but has just made the transition from the centres and into the backrow for the attributes I listed before. Potentially, I would say he can be better than Cherrington but he is only young. Time will tell but O'Sullivan is definitely recruiting young players with the following skills - toughness, courage, attitude. These are attributes that separate great players that don't make it and great players that do. I'm really liking what O'Sullivan is doing.
thanks for that. i knew he was bloody talented but thats really reassuring. Another nail in the coffin of the osullivan is a hack i believe

Those Cordner boys are going to kill somebody in NYC next season, if it doesn't happen this year. Our NYC team next season will be unbelievable. If they have everybody available, they will monster some teams and take a few players out from each. Size, skill, aggression and toughness are attributes that next year's team will have. Insanely good team on paper, maybe the best in the NYC next year. Mack you agree?

Just checked, Cordner is THE youngest player in the NYC this year. Other 1992-born players include Harry Siejka (Panthers), Will Hopoate (Manly), Wayne Ulugia (Cowboys) and Alex McKinnon (Dragons).

That is outstanding IMO. He is the youngest player in the competition, yet going by his stats, not did he hold his own, but he dominated games from the backrow.

Does anyone know the rules for players eligible to play in the finals series?
I can't find them anywhere. If we happen to make the top 8 just interested to see if Symonds and Jones can play. I'm pretty sure Friend won't be eligible.
I heard that they base it on the final 5 games of the season and a player must have played 3 games of the final 5 but that sounds a bit odd. That would mean if Cordner or Kennedy make it back for the last two games, they miss out.

I think talent-wise, our team is one of the best, but it is poorly coached and thus, the game plans don't always work.

I remember many times last year, Alan Heldsinger (winger) was played at hooker, Antonio Winterstein (centre) was played in the backrow, Galu Teo (wing) was played at five-eighth, Dominique Peyroux (centre) being played at lock/backrow .

                    Terrible planning.

Why should it be any different to the first grade team!

Who was coach or responsible for such poor planning and will those idiots be there next year to eff things up again?

Weren't Adrian Lam and Scott Murray the coaches?

3 games of the final 5? That's a bit odd. I thought the ruling was you had to have played half or more of your games this season in NYC to play in the finals series. Boyd Cordner is back this week so he'll be right and Kennedy should be back soon as well. Also Moeakiola is out for the season. If Symonds plays the rest of the season out in first grade, he will be ineligible for the finals and Jones and Friend are ineligible no matter what.

Adrian Lam was coach for the first half of the season and Scott Murray took over after Round 18 last season.

Mack, have you watch Nick Dwan from the Knights Under 20's play? He clocks up some very impressive stats everytime he plays. Was just wondering if you have seen him play and what is he like.
