  • Next Rooster stars in U20s

We keep hearing about other teams having so and so in U20s with big wraps etc. Now that RTS and Toupou are in first grade, who do we have in U20s to keep an eye out for. I only know of Evans but he is not bulky, just tall and mean. Not sure if he'll make it in first grade.

    Any others ?

Langi aswell, 5/8 or ball playing backrower. Looks a step above the 20's in the games I have seen

Taane Milne only turning 18 this year and started playing in the centres for U20s. A tremendous local talent.
Alex Thomas also a great local talent at 19 this year he has been with the 20s all year.

I hope the pair of them do really well

Same, same. Rhyse bagged a double again last week. He knows the way to the line.

im pi$$ed that fox doesnt replay all 20s games. ive seen one replay/live game all year, and its not good enough. sat 3pm games get no preview or 20s exposure. friday nights get shit, and the other 9 s games on sunday.

              Glad you mentioned them KB.

Saw that Milne got a try the other week...has Thomas been getting much of a run?

I think they underestiamte Alex a bit but he is getting more time due to the injury to Antonelli (I think)

The one that they will (and probably do) miss is Jack Johnson. He was with the 20s for a while but decided to pack it in and head to RU. In the SG Ball last year he made such a huge difference in defense when he was on. But I guess there is not much defense in U20s ....

Yeah I had heard about Johnson and it's a shame he didn't get graded with the 20's.

Thomas is starting at 9 tonight so I'm gonna get there early to watch the whole game...my brother works with his uncle and the word is that Green thinks he is too small...very disapointing if that's true, espcially coming from Green who was a midget himself as a player.

Milne also named at right centre - looking forward to seeing our local kids mixing it.

Anyone see Milne's try? I arrived to catch the conversion.

Langi is definitely the brightest prospect. Kali Meehan is playing his first game tonight and it looks like we could do a lot worse than trying to develop him in an Evans style prop. The kid is enormous!! Playing in the middle tonight after playing for Australian Schoolboys on the wing in the offseason haha

                            Yak,
Willis Meehan was very impressive in his debut the other night. Like Evans before him Willis uses his big frame & aggression to charge into the opposition & hurt them in defence and to think he's still filling out .
Willis is juggling rugby league & boxing atm. From a selfish POV i hope he stays in league however at 18y.o he's got the world at his feet having just won the Aust Super Heavyweight title & training for the Comm Games. The apple certainly didn't fall far from the tree with this kid...his old man Kali an Australian & World Heavyweight boxer.
p.s Taane's 3rd game and doing well. Has deceptive pace and possesses a nice flick pass to his unmarked winger.

NO classmates usually mess with Willis Tele Meehan when he walks around the schoolyard, especially not since the 105kg giant took out the super heavyweight title at the Australian Boxing Championships.

The Matraville Sports High School student, who also plays under-18 football for the Sydney Roosters, won 17-9 on points in the title bout at the Adelaide tournament this month.

Willis, 17, of Maroubra, said he was torn between his two favourite sports.

"It's going to be tough to stop doing one or the other because my heart is in both," he said.

"I have a lot of support, which makes it possible to manage at this stage."

Willis said although he wasn't giving up football, he planned to increase his boxing training in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games next year.

He also plans to complete his HSC studies this year in between his sporting commitments.

From what I saw last Friday I reckon Milne has the goods. That try he set up was class.

He also smashed some big forward who charged at him head on....in saying that, he had a bad miss in defence for the last Dogs try, but that was just 20's rubbish that is fixable.
