or since naughton is a solid defender, maybe he will play centres and graham on the wing?

Like roz stated, any guy that beats the likes of Croker and Dugan et al to win the Raiders U20s player of the year sounds very promising to me and I'm quite happy about the signing. As Tones would say, welcome Steve.
And do you know the really good thing about this signing? He isn't a backrower and heaven forbid is actually what the Roosters need - a centre. My goodness, I need to have a lie down now.

I just really like the idea of having blokes putting massive pressure on the guys in 1sts..

          its a no brainer...

who should have the wing position???

skd who has shown nothing all year
or naughton, raiders u20 players of the year, who has atleast shown some prommise..

naughton alreadys deserves the spot imo, he would be a waste in newtown.

Nah reggies means reserve grade lol.

            First Grade

            Anthony Minichiello
            Sammy Perrett
            Mitch Aubusson
            Phil Graham
            Shaun Kenny-Dowall

Newtown (not sure if Hauraki, Earl, Towers, Samau or Maori are staying)

            Steve Naughton
            Sonny Tuigamala
            Kane Linnett
            Ben Jones?
            Sisa Waqa

            Under-20's

            Cheyse Blair
            Grant Nelson
            Ryan Williamson
            JP Du Plessis
            Fine Moeakiola/Andrew Haines

We will see Williamson and Linnett putting pressure on Morbs to move him to the pack, and Williamson will also be likely to be considered for SKD's spot too.

I asked Maubs his favoured position as I thought he had the makings of a pretty decent centre. He doesn't like the centres. He sees himself as a backrower & is looking forward to moving back there next season.

For that to happen one Mr Mason needs to leave I would think. Good on you for asking him TBF and I find his reply interesting and I hope he gets to move into the backrow to replace the champion that is Craig Fitzgibbon.

                    Not precisely.

What I am expecting to see at the start of the year is:

                    3. Aubusson

                    8. Ryles
                    9. Friend
                    10. Paea
                    11. Mason
                    12. Myles
                    13. Anasta

                    14. Jones / Jorbs
                    15. Symonds
                    16. Conn/Kouparitsas
                    17. Nuuausala

BUT...if Morbs moves to the backrow, we can always shift Myles into the front row, bench paea, and dump Kouparitsas/Conn.

There are problems and then there are quality problems Mack. I think the Roosters have one of the latter in this issue.

By the way, is Naughton a fullback? I thought (hoped?) he was a centre.

Yeah I actually was surprised when he said that, but he was honest & felt he was better suited to the backrow. He was very genuine.

Ah, cool, interesting. SKD should see the writing on the wall one would think.
I see a situation of competition for spots developing at the Roosters what with the existing players and those being signed for next year. This is a good thing as it should hopefully eliminate complacency and stupidity.

Yeah hes a winger/fullback, plays a bit better at fullback IMO where he gets more ball.

He doesn't have any outstanding physical qualities about him though.

You're consistently lukewarm about Naughton Mack but I'm sure you'd like him to prove you wrong.
