I didn't realize that the Jets got rid of Jacks. Who is going to take over from him at halfback? I certainly hope that it is someone decent and that they possess a good kicking game! If you don't have a good halfback it can undo your season, so they better not stuff up with Jack's replacement cause it will be a waste with the rest of the team looking good!

So the Jets have signed Brett Lane, a 25yr old winger. An interesting signing (slightly peculiar) who I have never heard of. Is he any good?
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

    Here's looking at you, kid.

He's actually a Roosters junior who came thru the grades with Blake Ayshford. Both got jack of the club under Sticky's tenure and ended up playing U20's at West Tigers. After that he got a start at the Jets in 2010/11 & at the start of season 2012 he was snapped up by the Bulldogs after scoring three long range tries against them at the Back to Belmore trial. He debuted for them
that year but never really got the opportunity to established himself.

Is he any good? He's an average run of the mill footballer without being exceptional. NSW Cup is his standard.

Thanks for the assessment on him Gman. I'm certainly not excited about that signing! I've spoken once before about how I don't really see the point of getting a guy like Lane, who by his standards at the age of 25 has no real chance of ever getting selected for 1st grade. We are wasting our time, when instead we could sign a 19/20 year old and put our efforts into trying to develop him to become a first grader.

James Anthony with Sydney Roosters Print E-mail
          WEDNESDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2014 22:56

After three fantastic seasons playing full back for London Skolars we reluctantly said goodbye to James Anthony at the end of the 2013 season. James headed off to Australia, with everyone’s best wishes, where he signed with the Newtown Jets a Sydney Roosters affiliate club.

As the start of the 2014 NRL season approaches we were delighted to read that James is included in the Sydney Roosters squad for their opening friendly against Newcastle Knights this coming weekend.
James is named in a 28 man squad that includes the likes of Sonny Billy Williams, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Michael Jennings, Anthony Minichiello, Sam Moa and former Catalan Superleague player Remi Casty.
James, who was voted Skolars players player of the season in 2013, enjoyed his best season to date last year, equalling the club scoring record of twenty tries in a season.
Skolars will continue to follow James’s progress in Australia and I’m sure everyone will be wishing him every sucess in his new surroundings.
