  • This guy Kane Linnett

asked about Williamson yesterday, today it's Kane Linnett

    How does he go?

How does he compare with Williamson?

A lightweight who really didn't impress in the final rounds of the comp this year.

There's a reason why he became the first ever player to reach 50 Toyota Cup games.

Tries Off Kicks, are you going to be posting each day a new thread about each young gun we have? It's a good idea and a good way to post information to fellow posters about some of the young players who might be stepping up for us in the next few years.

Kane Linnett is a reliable type centre who is always at the right spot at the right time. He is defensively solid although needs to put on a bit of meat because he has a slight frame. He can sniff out a try when close to the line and should get an opportunity in first grade if injuries strike. He is a Joel Reddy type of centre who makes his tackles and is under rated IMO.

Just keen on finding out about some these young guys I haven't seen. Just moved back to Sydney and haven't had the chance to watch much Toyota Cup.

Plus I've been waiting so many years for us to unearth a really good centre

The interesting young signings we have made are:

Kane Linnett (Dragons NYC - centre)
Steve Naughton (Raiders NYC - winger)
Liam Foran (Newtown Jets - halfback)
Brad Takairangi (Rabbitohs NYC - backrow)
Jason Baitieri (Eels NYC - lock forward)
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Manly NYC - prop)
Johnathan Ford (Knights NYC - utility back)

Plus the notable young guns to stay on are Luke Towers, Ryan Williamson, Boyd Cordner, Joseph Leilua, and Mose Masoe. Would love to see a thread on a select few of these younguns to get fans direct opinions.

People seemed VERY mixed about Conn.

except that if we did have a thread on a "select few" Mack you'd turn it into yet another off topic, name dropping exercise that mentioned the entire SG Ball squad, 17 players from Harold Matthews, what our backrow might be in 2013, and something about Keiran Foran

my thoughts exactly, would struggle to break wind, let alone a defensive line

                  Me too..

Williamson impressed me waaay more, with regards to the future..

And i'm still not 100% sold on Ryan either...He does need more time though..

I certainly am nervous about him starting the year in 1st grade..

I hope my nerves prove unfounded though

I am one who hates over stating a kids talent, but williamson in the sg ball was head and shoulders above anyone else in that grade, he made a mess of idris during that season, the grand final he made the big parra islander forwards and backs look like lightweights.

Absolutely wasted in the 20s, rarely got the ball, which caused the frustration and brains snaps.I watched in horror many 20s games where he had to go looking for the bloody ball only for it to go the opposite way, never seen him beaten under a bomb neither.

IMO he is ready, lets hope with carney we get the ball out instead of in.

Depends how versatile he is... from what I've seen he mainly plays at right centre, Carney tends to play on the left and Pearce on the right... although I agree it'd be stupid not to put them on the same side.
