  • Waqa and Jones named top 2 football rookies

Am hunting for the article online but in the Sunday Mail today there's an article discussing the top 50 rookies across the footy codes. Waqa comes in a no 1 and Jones at 2. There's also a great article with Jones declaring his loyalty to QLD

A SCHOOLBOY sensation who has earned comparisons with Test legend Brad Fittler has turned his back on New South Wales and wants to play State of Origin for Queensland.

In yet another blow to the Blues's representative stocks, Roosters prodigy Ben Jones is set to emulate Origin defector Greg Inglis by setting his sights on playing for the Maroons.

The 18-year-old was born in the western NSW city of Orange, reared in Coonabarabran 310km away and represented the NSW under-17s and Combined High Schools teams in the past two years.

But Jones says he aspires to wear the Maroons No6 jumper made famous by Wally Lewis and Darren Lockyer after being added to Queensland's Emerging Origin squad three weeks ago.

Inglis was the last player embroiled in an Origin eligibility war, selected by the Maroons three years ago despite being born in the NSW town of Kempsey and playing his first senior game at 16 with Newcastle's Hunter Sports High.

"I see myself as a Queenslander and I want to play for the Maroons,'' said Jones, who has indigenous bloodlines.

"I've played for both the NSW and Queensland under-17s and last year I had to make a choice when I was going to be selected in the Queensland side. I needed to make a call - so I chose Queensland.''

Under Origin eligibility laws, a player's state is determined by where they play their first senior game after the age of 16.

Jones claims he played his first senior match for Redcliffe Colts after leaving Coonabarabran to move to Brisbane as a 13-year-old.

QRL boss Ross Livermore insists the Maroons have not circumvented eligibility rules to claim the youngster.

Jones a Queenslander, that'd be right.

              NSW gets NO ONE!

See and this is what makes SOO a fraud.

There is NO firmess in the eligibility criteria, for both sides (mainly for QLD though as they have been the MAIN offenders)

                SCRAP SOO !!!!!

We should do a Potential all stars list and see how many actually rise to the occasion
