    Surely this cannot be true??!!!

Unless it is all about PR, surely the Roosters are about changing behaviours, beliefs and attitude rather than creating a place to play up out of the public eye.

Vasco, where is this so called house located?

hey im new im williamsons best mate , without getting away from any the subject matter of williamsons obliteration from this season, lets get a few things straight.

            1. its easy to come on this forum and banter all day
            2. its another perspective being in their shoes and dealing with their daily routines. Yeah it may appear to be a glamourous job however, somtimes people need to take 2 steps backwards before they can come forwards again and succeed in a positive manner.
            3. My understanding of the matter is- Williamson is not quitting. Because he is not like that. He is merely taking a break from issues on/ off the football field. If you want to bag him be my guest, but isn't that what this site is about anyway?

i personally spoke to ryan last night regarding the matter, because of his decision of taking a break for the year, he wants nothing more than to take a leave of absence from the club he loves as best as possible and on the highest note, when he feels like he enjoys and loves the game again as much as a first grader should. he'll be there for you fans in the number 4 jersey

            Cya.

Welcome mate and thanks for the info. So just to confirm, Ryan Williamson is taking the year off? Hope to see him back in the future because he is a great talent with plenty of potential to fulfil. I wish him all the best.

I also agree whole heartedly on your second point. Being a professional rugby league player seems to be a glamorous job as many people remark, but only a few are capable of going through the grind daily. They might have a lot of time off but their capabilities to do the training they is required of them is amazing and they have my full respect on that matter. You only have to watch a training session in the pre-season to understand the rigours of being a professional rugby league player.

                    Big deal.

Ryan Williamson has done nothing to deserve the wraps he gets. He might have carved it up as a schoolboy but thats where it all ended.

He is a myth & now if this "boardogs" poster is to be believed it appears he is a spineless myth. Then again the poster may just be a mindless troll.

Either way nothing changes for me. He is like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster............a myth.

If the grind of playing NYC has forced him to take a year off then I would not be holding much hope for any sort of return realistically.. Fair enough if he needed a few weeks to get his head together but a year off after pretty much having a year off would mean he would be so far off the pace in 2011.

May be that its not the grind of the football, but the grind of leaving home at a young age and realising he missed out on a bit of his childhood. So many kids go down to Sydney at too young an age.

If you want to be a successful footballer that is part of the package.. Basically you have a choice, make the sacrifice or throw it away.. It is not going to be easy for him to come back next year if he does indeed do so.. Others may take their opportunities and he could be left behind..

He has had a lot of injuries at a young age. Maybe it's the body as well as the mind that's currently just not up to the grind of weekly football, even in the NYC let alone the NRL.

If he needs time out to refresh and regroup mentally and physically then let him. He'll be no good to the Chooks unless he's 100 committed anyway.

Didn't Ben Jones have to take a few months off all footy early 2008 due to his body just being overloaded by years of constant school, rep and club footy?
