  • Mattews and SG Ball first round win

Went to Henson Park today and had an enjoyable afternoon watching the Roosters Harold Matthews and SG Ball both win thier first round clashes against Norths Bears.
Harold Matthews 34 to 14 winners
This squad looked the goods right from kickoff but were down 10 nil early and had to fight thier way back into the game and then just seemed to get stronger as the game wore on to finish strongly untill a silly mistake allowed the Bears to get a try right on fulltime.

SG Ball 24 to 4 winners
These boys were slow out of the blocks and were down 4 nil early in the game and then started to gel as a team and as the game wore on began to get stronger to finish the much stronger team. There were some standout performers in the SG Ball with the way the forwards went. A couple of these guys were superb with the constant breaking of the line in attack just lacked some finishing as the score could have been in the 40's.

Good strong hit out against a lesser opposition.

No I believe they are the North Sydney Bears and only the top side is associated with the rabbits just like the arrangement we have with Newtown

Can anyone post the side that ran on? Wasn't there a lot of blokes still eligible for SG Ball playing in the trials (Jack Littlejohn, Cheyse Blair, etc)?
