  • Williamson Time

if yesterday proved anything it was that 2010 is going to be a rebuilding year and a year of ups and downs, it is a must that we use this year to find out just what our youngsters have to offer.

it is clear that Ben Jones should never be left to defend out wide in the centres he is just too small in this modern day game to be left to defend the monster centres such as Inglis,Hodges,Idris,Folau etc.

this is why it is time to throw Williamson to the wolves he is certainly the subject of much debate thanks to his unbelieveable form showed a couple of years ago in the SG Ball side, since then his development has stalled on the back of injury/suspension and a horrendus coaching team, there is only one way to find out if he has any future in first grade and that is to throw him in and see how he goes, there is no point letting him rot in the NYC as our halves have no idea how to give him early ball to show off is speed and strength.

with Pearce/Carney/Anasta we have the ability to move the ball quickly from side to side and I for one would love to see whether Williamson is pure myth or potential superstar, what have we got to lose, he couldn't be any worse than the crap SKD served up yesterday.

and one final thing Takairangi should not be let anywhere near our first grade side, in his two outings he has shown nothing and it is obvious by the minutes played the coaching staff don't have confidence in his ability.

The time to throw Williamson in is when we are on a good role, not after a 46 point thumping... that's way too much pressure on a debutant.

I don't care much for the other side, more how we are traveling and if perform anything like we did on Sunday he wont see any ball. He's already got enough god like wraps on him the last thing he needs is to be absolutely torn apart for a performance which most likely wont even be his fault.

If there was an injury then I might agree but for now SKD and Graham will do just fine.

Hopefully Phil Graham will be back this week so no need for either Jones or Williamson in the centres.

Williamson needs to play some solid consistent footy before being gifted a spot in the NRL side. I don't see the sense in picking him in first grade on the basis of potential or what he did a year or two ago.

I agree re Takairangi (or whatever he calls himself). Complete waste of a bench spot.

And please can we have Jorbs starting the match rather than Koups at hooker. If Koups is to be in the squad, it should be as a forward. He looks bloody awkward at hooker.

Ryan has been playing very well in the u20's. On top of that his trial form was exceptional to the point that they were seriously considering him for FG in round1 acording to his manager. He is up on confidence, his defence is rock solid and he will definitely benefit from quick service from Pearce, Carney and Anasta something he never sees in NYC.
Every time I have seen Ryan forced into the deep end he steps up. I have no reason to believe he wont do the same if given the chance this weekend.

Next time an outside back is injured, throw Williamson in (JONES IS NOT A CENTRE), but for now, Graham and SKD will be fine.

Kane Linnett has far greater claims than Williamson imho. He was outstanding in the under 2o's for St Merge last year and has scored 5 tries in 3 games for Newtown which is a higher standard than Toyota cup including a hattrick last weekend.

given the complete waste of time Takairangi has been so far having done nothing in his first two appearances for the Roosters, we could do worse than have Williamson on the bench and use him as a pinch hitter in the back row much like the way the Warriors converted Mannering into one of the better bakrowers in the comp, he certainly has the strength and tackling technique to handle it, and the way Smith has used Takairangi he has only got 15-20 so far in each game.

We'll just have to wait and see, but I'll but my money on Williamson to be the next center called up.

Now you've really lost the plot. Linnett over Williamson and Newtown being a higher standard than Toyota Cup.

Toyota Cup is shit.. Newtown is definitely better.. Have a watch of our tinpot U20's team.. They are garbage.. Their coach is a spastic and none of them can tackle.

Steady eddy would do a better job than that idiot. His NYC record is diabolical.. They have no game plan, no tactics.. nothing.. It is painful watching that mob.. How he retained his job after last seasons disaster is a mystery.
