How the hell does Scott Murray still have a job?

I can't believe how bad our NYC side has become, they lack the fundamental skills of the game passing and tackling, surely the time has come for Scott Murray to move on.

to build a successful club it needs to be done from the ground up and it is plainly obvious we just don't have the talent coming through Harold Matthews, SG Ball and NYC at the moment to progress into long term first graders, there is no doubt that there are a few of the younger boys with plenty of potential but there development certainly stalls once Murray gets his hands on them.

Can't speak on HM or SG BALL, but our NYC team, while having quite a bit of talent, just doesn't have the cohesion.

The halves aren't really distributing the ball as much as they should.

I'm undecided on Brad Murray, he has his good days, and his really bad days.

Just going on stats (not the clearest picture), Williamson and JP are bludging big time, along with Hughie.

Nick Esham is going great as always. Gun defender, which is hard to find in the NYC.

It's hard to take this Mickey Mouse competition seriously tbh fletch, the amount of times I have seen teams comes back from 20+ down to win just isn't football.

There was one match in particular when the Warriors were down by 22 with 8 minutes to go and ended up drawing the match.......it was farcical. It's why you will often see these ridiculous scores start to seep into the NRL as well as teams are using the NYC as depth with no proper reserve grade competition.

I can't really blame Murray as 90% of the teams are the same, the one exception are the Storm who seem to be awesome in every grade, every season nowadays.

unless my information is wrong , the young blokes (HS and SG ball) have won more than they have lost and NYC have only lost 1 game thus far...

Sorry Fletch but Scott Murray is one of the best young coaches out there. Every good coach knows who he is. When Smith took over last year, he sacked EVERYONE except Scott Murray. Dont blame the crap competition on Murray, its the NRL's fault ... we need a proper reserve grade as well.

I will be honest, his technique is shocking.. He goes in hard with the shoulder but his arms are no where to be seen and either bounces off or misses completely too often for my liking. He isn't alone with this technique in the NYC team. Tonight Ethan Lowe imho was head and shoulders the best player (I did miss the first 25 minutes admittedly) whilst Sam Brunton looked dangerous at dummy half. I also liked what Fine Moeakiola did with limited opportunities.

Sorry but he is an A grade dud. The team each week looks like they have not been introduced to each other. I will admit in the second half today they looked better than they have in a long time but almost let a big lead slip to a team missing about 10 players.

Spot on. NYC should not be the official 2nd grade of the NRL. It is a deadset mickeymouse comp and is getting worse each year.

The real problem with this is that it is doing the opposite of what was intended - building up young talent. The majority of the NYC players are so far from first grade standard it is not funny.

I reckon if they are so keen on an age compm then NYC should be changed to under 23s with four spots for over 23s in each squad.

Or, just be fair dinkum and bring back reserve grade.

IMO Nick Eshman seems to have great technique. He gets under the ball and his tackling contact is very strong. Ethan Lowe was definitely the best player on the field in the NYC game. He was causing plenty of havoc on that left side and is very strong. I don't think he would be out of his depth if he was to be given a run in first grade this year. He is a quality young player IMO. I was impressed with Fine Moeakiola as well. This kid has plenty of talent and I thought he was dangerous with every touch of the ball. It good to see him on the field after all the injuries. Sam Brunton is another player who I really enjoy watching. He brings on plenty of spark when he comes off the bench and lifts the team. IMO He is much better than Olireti Samuelu and is a very elusive type of player. Others to impress me where Watson Namoa, Brad Murray who had an outstanding game IMO and Jack Littlejohn. Ryan Williamson was quiet and doesn't seem to be confident at all.
