Is Williamson one of those? Not that I think he would be on a 'good contract'.

De Plesis has already gone i've been told, and player managers are testing the water to see which other players are happy to move on if a suitable club could be found for them. The list will become obvious to all over the next week or so i would expect.

Hopefully uncle Nick does not pay overs for high profile has beens as he has a penchant for doing just that.

thanks for the update Murry, certainly a shame things didn't work out with Du Plessis but now is the time to start blooding some of the younger guys to see if they can handle first grade.

the main problem we have is that we have very few players that other clubs would want to touch other than Pearce,Carney,JWH,Friend,Myles not sure if there would be much interest in the rest.

its looking like Jaubs,Mini,Paea will be moved on at the end of the year and when combined with Mason being gone we should have a little room to move under the cap, it would be great if Anasta would sign with the Melbourne Rebels which would mean we could have a red hot go and some of the higher profile players that would be available at the end of the year.

What murry seems to be describing is some mid season movement similar to a few years back when Soward and others were moved on mid season.

The other South African Brian Skosana returned to SA due to visa problems but that's the last I heard of that situation. Not sure if he has returned or not though.
On "The Wall" JP was spoken to on Monday and will be back after the bye
and is currently living in Coogee.

I've been hearing rumours of the exact same thing. Ryan Williamson was mentioned to me as one of the players who they are trying to offload, which IMO is definitely not a good move. He will come back one day to haunt us.

that would be a shame if they unloaded Williamson before seeing if he has what it takes to play first grade, I understand he hasn't set the world on fire in NYC but he is built to play top grade and maybe just needs to be thrown in the deep end to see if it will ignite his talent.

This is the big concern in getting someone like Gaz. At best he can offer us two years at the sacrifice of one or more young players with plenty of upside. I am all for a play at Gaz but only to get rid of some of the rubbish we currently have in the first grade backline. On the other hand if we are freeing up players to get someone like Inglis then I would not be too disappointed in offloading one or two unproven younger players. Yes it is a risk that they will come back to haunt us but in the case of Inglis or Williamson, who would you take at this point of their careers?

I don't think Ryan Williamson is being offloaded in order for us to make a play for Gasnier. I think it's more the fact that he is probably on a big contract and his performances are not mirroring his pay packet. I was told he is on a fair bit of coin and with the amount that was mentioned to me, I'm assuming the club is lining up a few young players to move into the fulltime squad and also considering topping up some contracts of current players.

Footy - can you give an idea of who you think the club will look to offload?

Well just like any other club, I suppose the players that aren't performing and that are on quite a lot of money. I'm starting to think Braith Anasta but he is our captain and I can't see him going at the end of the year unless we purchase a good fullback off the market or one of the younger players shine when given the chance in first grade.

I reckon Lopini Paea would be high on the list.
