  • SG Ball Week 1 Elimination Final Result

8th placed Easts defeated 5th placed Newcastle 36 - 18 to go through to the 2nd week of the finals, good work boys!

The boys will either play Parramatta or Cronulla (if they lose to the Bulldogs) in Week 2 of the finals.

EDIT: 1st placed Cronulla lost to 4th placed Bulldogs, so we'll meet Cronulla next weekend.

No, that score was from the last time we played the sharks.

The SG Ball side looks very strong, but so do the Sharks. It will be a good game IMO. Cheyse Blair is a late inclusion and will play fullback on the weekend. Players to watch for the Roosters include Asipeli Fine, Jacob Miller, Keanu Te Kiri, Cheyse Blair, Dane Atkinson and Jared Allen. For the Sharks, keep a close eye on Luke Pickerd, Sam Clune, Rodney Moefaauo, Tyrone Viiga and DJ Lokeni-Purcell.

              Tip: Roosters by 6

Hoping anyone who has been to a few of the SG Ball games can tell me how a mates young bloke has been going for the Roosters - Jason ANTONELLI, great young bloke who Penrith showed the door last season despite being one of their better players.

What I noticed was about him was his high work rate and solid defence and you could notice the difference in the team when he was off to when he came back on.

I've watched Jason play all year and have been impressed by his game. He runs the ball well, is a solid defender and is developing a passing game. There have been a few games were he has dropped the ball 2 and 3 times through a loose carry or poor offload choices, particularly in our red zone. He probably needs to read the state of the game a little better and improve his decision making when it comes to offloading. Otherwise I'd give him 8/10 and the team definitely looks better when he is playing and going forward, particularly back on the inside which has been a weakness of the team at times. Penrith's loss our gain.
