  • NYC boys ready to walk??

mail going around is that 3 Roosters NYC boys might walk out of the club after being offered big $$$$$ deals to play in top grade comp in France.

No word of a lie, spoke to one guy from NYC yesterday (will not name him) and he has confirmed it.

    Au revoir

good for them, there's good cash to be made. For every one, there will be three others to take his place.

Young players don't understand the shortcomings of age, and expect to be playing top grade without putting in the hard yards.

and dissapear to obscurity afterwards... Is there 3 players even worthy of going hard to keep in that team? I can only think of 2 I would see much of a future in being Brunton and Lowe.. Actually I don't mind Blake Williamson also... The rest, who cares...

Nothing new, just poor NRL policies, as NYC players have been doing this for a few seasons now.
The problems arise when these kids become ineligable for NYC due to age,but are not quite good enough yet to make a clubs 25 and fit into the salary cap. They are left with the Jim Beam Cup for further experience,or overseas to France for good money which obviously is very attractive to a 21 year old.
Maybe an U/23`s comp should be brought back in,but this too will have its pro`s and con`s...

That seems to be the problem with the NYC. The age limit is too low IMO and it basically says to players that if they don't play NRL by the age of 20, they don't really stand a chance to making it into the top grade after that age bracket. We have some good guns in the NYC and plenty of them I'd like to see come through our feeder system at Newtown and then hopefully graduate through to our NRL side. The old system did that with the Premier League.

I hope the 3 players are not Sam Brunton, Ethan Lowe, Mark Kheirallah, Fine Moeakiola, Blake Williamson, Isaac Maliota or Brad Murray. I'd like these players to continue their development in our system. They are players that have been identified as ones with potential to play first grade.

I can't tell you because that would be a breach of privacy, but trust me... I have close contact with all the roosters, and they always reveal secret things to me.

*cough cough cough* slow news day?

Good luck to the players.. 90% of the NYC players end up on the scrap heap
hopefully few of them can prolong their careers in France. If the club thinks they will be 1st graders they will be kept. Brad Murray, Jerome Leolahi, Olireti Samuelu, Tom Pelo, Hughie Stanley are all pretty good players in NYC and will be too old next year and will struggle to get a contract in the full time squads at any club.
A few players will kept on that will not be eliglibe for NYC next year.
                          Brunton, Maliota, Strickland and Moeakiola

As you said, Brunton, Maliota, Strickland and Moeakiola will most likely be retained as they are the crop in this side. Ethan Lowe has another year but he wouldn't look out of place in the NRL squad as he is developing quite nicely at the moment. Brad Murray could definitely be worth a look as I was very impressed by his kicking game yesterday and also his organisation skills. He has really come good this year.

Sorry to be negative but it's not really a scoop then is it ?

no names, no indication as to when ? Most will go at some stage anyway

I am not saying you are wrong but you're not saying much really
