  • NYC tonight against Vermin

a very good first half effort by the boys, taking a 14-8 lead against the table topping Vermin.

its amazing that we are so high on the table given the number of players either unavailable through injury, first grade duties or have been released

    changes from pre-season squad:

    Cordner (injured for season)
    Hands (injured for season)
    Moeakiola (injured out for season)
Kheirallah (top tryscorer due back in 3 weeks)
    Williamson (released)
    Du Plesis (released)
    Leilua (first grade)
    Friend (first grade)

Jones (who has been mainly in first grade/Newtown)

Don't put the mock on them fletch, these kids will probably give up 5 tries to blot in the second half and make us look like fools

great win, considering the tigers in 4th loss, they move to second with a 3 point break to 4th.

Cheyse Blair is something very special

Great win considering half of them are walking out to go to Europe

Huh, what are you talking about here Fleabag Fletch?

Great win by the NYC boys and I thought the first grade game was going to end with the same scoreline but with the vermin winning. THANK HEAVENS that didn't happen thanks to a gutsy team effort.

Cheyse Blair had a good game and is developing quite nicely in the NYC considering he is still very young. I'd leave him in the NYC for another year before pushing him up into the first grade side.

I thought Isaac Maliota, Tom Pelo, Nick Eshman and Lou Goodwin were great last night. The impact provided by the bench, namely Maliota and Pelo, is what is getting us over the lines in these tight games. They come on and are wrestling back the control of the ruck from the other pack, much like Masoe and Kennedy are doing at the moment for the NRL side. But it was the team effort that stood out the most with the players making last ditch tackles and scrambling very well. The club is looking very good and we've always said we have some very good youngsters coming through and results are finally proving it. IMO there are 7-8 players in this side capable of playing NRL in the next year.

This talented kid experienced a 1st grade run in the Foundation Cup earlier this year and probably wants more of it. Incidentallly, BJ Leilua did as well.
I hope Brian doesn't leave it too late otherwise Cheyse may feel unloved and look elsewhere. There would be a host of clubs lining up for his services.

You are 100% right Pelo and Maliota are the real grunt up front. these 2boys grew in NZ together playing in junior grades back in NZ, now they find themselves playing together for the Roosters which is great.

Isaac Maliota, Tom Pelo, Olireti Samuelu, Jerome Leolahi and Sam Brunton all grew up together in NZ. All played together for Mangere East. 2006 Leolahi was snapped up by Roosters and moved over in 07. Pelo was signed by West Tigers and also moved over in 07. Maliota, Samuelu and Brunton also moved over in 07 with no contracts just willing to work hard and try make it in the big league here in Australia. Maliota, Samuelu and Brunton trialed for Roosters sg ball in 08 and all were selected and linked up with Leolahi. Pelo in 08 had his contract torn due to off-field incidents, Pelo played for Westfields in arrive alive cup 08 where head coach of Matraville Scott Murray seen him play and asked him to trial for the roosters nyc in 09 where he was the stand out performer in the trials, and was signed up straight away for seasons 09/10. They find themselves playing along side each other for the Roosters which is great, so proud of these boys everyone back home wishes you boys all the very best..

                              Up the ROOSTERS...
